OK, update. I emailed splicit, and they emailed an image of the machine with reels mounted that had no kind of retainers, or adaptors. They said that this machine has a twist lock feature....I'll have to go back and magnify that image. I have couple of reels of tape coming off ebay, so I haven't mes...

Thanks Andy,
I appreciate the reply. That turned up some results, but they still seem quite rare.. I'm picturing some guy with a pickle barrel full of these things dominating the market...

Tascam 22-2 nabs?

I recently purchased a 22-2 recorder (2 track, 1/4 inch tape, 7-inch reels) and am having trouble locating a pair of nabs for it. The first obstacle is knowing exactly what I'm looking for - namely, what type/model(s) of nab will work with this deck. Most of the ones I've seen for sale are for 10' r...

schematic for tube mic pre?

Hello all, I'm looking for a schematic for a tube mic preamplifier. I've got a friend who has just built me a class a point to point tube guitar amp based on the ax84 schematic. It sounds incredible. Now we (he) would like to try building a mic pre or a tube bass head. Not looking for a kit, just sc...

cascade pre's for more gain on cascade fathead

Hello all, I will be receiving a fathead ribbon soon. The preamps I have available are a motu ultralite and 8pre, both w/ 60db of gain, a digimax fs w/ 55 db of gain, and a studio projects vtb. From what I have read, I am going to need more gain/higher impedence than any of these offer.. Is it possi...

Update: I have the powercore at the end of the chain and it is working fine.
The cpu hit I'm experiencing is disconcerting but it sounds good so far. Really digging the voice channel strip, and the x3 mastering plug.

Any one have any experience working w/ these on this instrument? I have never used a ribbon before and was wondering if this is one of their strong points.
Thanks,

Powercore Compact

Hello, I have decided to do my part in stimulating the economy by purchasing this item, which will soon arrive. I have an ultralite and an 8pre. Does anyone have any experience or advice as to whether I should put this at the beginning of the firewire chain or the end. I have also considered getting...

I don't have an express slot. I have an ultralite and 8pre w/ a presonus digimax fs via adat on the fw400 bus and a external hard drive on the fw 800 bus. If I understand it, they all share a common bus on the powerbook though.
I do have a pcmcia slot available..
Thanks for your response....
