TC Powercore Compact

Hello,.
Yes, I'm ready to stimulate the economy. I am considering this to use w/ a powerbook g4, Motu interfaces, and Ableton Live 5. Last version of Tiger. Any comments or complaints?

Thanks,
Randy

Thanks for the insights. On the Presonus, or any mic pre, leaving the gain turned down is equivalent to a line signal? Thanks

pre amp stacking

Hello, I would like to incorporate a mixing board into my setup. I have a presonus digimax fs. If I plug mics into the board (mackie vlz), keep the preamps turned down on the board and bring the direct outputs into the presonus, would I be adding extra noise? I miss having a mixing board and thought...

Clocking Question: motu ultralite, 8pre, digimax fs

Hello all, I have on order a digimax fs that I will hopefully be incorporating w/ the 2 moto pieces. I will be going into the adat on the 8pre and would like to be able to use the clock on the Presonus. My current setup is 8 pre-ultralite. I previously had the ultralite first on the firewire chain u...

not exactly a stomp box, but the lexicon jamman (older rack version) has kept me happy for many years. nothing quite like playing with yourself.
and i always miss my tube screamer (w. the 3 knobs) that my bassists junkie girlfriend lifted from me. Will never forgive her for that........

motu 8pre problem

Hello all, I have an ultralite first in the firewire chain, followed by the 8 pre. Occasionally, the 8pre will drop out across all 8 channels while recording, but the ultralite is fine. I'm on a powerbook 1.67. I don't know where to start without sending the unit in, which I am trying to avoid. Any ...

Thanks much for the replies and info. As far as the sound itself, it sounds thin and "clippy". I did move the mic off center of the beater a bit farther, and this gave me a better sound, but not a better wave form. I can see where and why this would eat up headroom. It always seems like I can only b...

thanx for the replies. So I just googled dc offset and that descibed it. I would link to it, but I don't know how, and said lack of know how also applies to taking a screen shot . I have the kick drum mic into an xlr in on a Behringer board w/ a 3630 comp. on the insert and the low cut filter engage...

wave form question

Hello, I hope this is the correct forum. I have been noticing that the waveform on my kick drum track is showing up with about 1/3 of the wave above the zero line with 2/3 below it. All of the other tracks are centered on the zero line. Bad mic or cable? I have switched preamps and I am getting the ...

In my place, the feeling and atmosphere get all the compliments.. I have only recorded 6 bands and several soloists there so far, but they were very comfortable and can't wait to come back. nice country setting with no neighbors. Several of the band members had recorded in "real" studios before, and...

Happened twice w/ mxl 990.... That's why I have "cheap" mics. I have since added a piece of velcro to the inside of the suspension mount and to the mic capsule. works very well... and so does the mic. here's a ? I leave all of my mics set up in our rehersal space, and there is quite a lot of smoking...

Thanks for the reality check, p.k. I do want to simplify things. I basically want to upgrade my board. behringer 2442, with 4 channels defunct. what I am trying to describe is tracking 16 mics through the onyx,(w. firewire), then being able to bring these tracks back out onto the board through the u...

Onyx in / Ultralite out

Hi, I am considering buying a onyx 1640 to use with a motu ultralite and 8pre. I would like opinions before I randomly pull out the credit card and reconfigure my desk. Would I have any bandwith issues w/ 3 devices? From what I have read, I belive I should be able to get 4 on a chain. Would there be...
