Re: 96khz and limiting

The best converters I've ever used are the RADAR II's stock converters... very yummy. L2 is a behemoth of greatness, kind of like a good bag of candy... Eat too much and you'll get diabetes and die; have one or two bites, yum yum yum. For a cheaper version, a guy named Dave Brown makes a decent $30 ...

Re: AKG mics

While I'm not going to say that AKG mics are the best ever, I will say that two of my top five mics ever are AKG's... Anybody else see Larry in Mix???

[EDIT: note that the poll is completely unrelated to the question posed in the thread title.] Yeah, not to praise a competitor of TapeOp, but there was a nice little nugget of info in the last Mix issue concerning Portland, Jackpot!, and LC. That's goon news to me. Fletcher has a Reader Response as ...

Re: Tube Mic Reccomendations?

I used to have a 149 and used it on vocals and as a drum room mic; never on guitar (it was alwas a 57 or a 414).

Let me ask you this: are you looking specifically for a guitar cab mic or just a general purpose mic to round out a mic cabinet?

Re: Soundproofing a vocal booth, assorted questions

Depends on how dead you want the room to be. A door with glass will probably make life a little easier, but you'll want to weatherstrip the hell out of it and any other doors in your studio (you're looking for an airtight lock). Deadedn the room as much as possible (since it is so small), but like I...
