Or distort it more. Stick it through Amp Farm or something.

Distortion is a great tool for bass to help it sit in the mix and to help the mids poke through, even when it's been recorded properly.

I find the best way is to transfer from 2" to protools during playback.

A reel of 2' running at 30 ips gives 16'43" which is enough for four takes on average.

Just do four takes back to back, drag the band in for a playback and do the transfer while you listen to the takes.

Offer to burn a copy of the session files to DVD for no charge.

If they want you to consolidate/export files, then politely explain that this will take time and will therefore be chargeable. Agree a rate for a couple of hours.
