Yeah, I don't know about the replacement option, it's one of 10 switches on the same panel of an old Alesis Quad GT. I can tell you that the unit will light the LED of my guitar amp FS. I dig what yer sayin about the momentary/latching thing. Using a regular old piano sustain pedal It switches as so...

wiring a bypass footswitch with indctr lite
I'm counting on this forum, as an awesome collection of mankind's accumulated studio knowledge to help me with this: Installed an FX unit in my live rack. Has a bypass jack, but not the footswitch. I need to switch on the fly and also I need an indicator light (bypass = lite off & on = lite on). So ...

Well I guess that's what I get for Posting While Enraged (PWE). Look, I see now that posting my intentions of larceny was a bad move on my part. Although it probably drove up traffic to my website quite a bit. So all my new enemies can see my address and phone number. Ha! If anyone cares I'd like to...

Jokes on me
So my collaborator just sent me an mp3 track of a live track simple piano over a drum loop playing on an Alesis SR-18 that he recorded into Audacity - I'm assuming he ignored the internal software metronome - he said the drum machine was set to 126 bpm - I set my DAW to 126 and it lined up perfectly...

Still Stuck
You guys are getting hung up on the drum machine. I don't know that he's even using drum machine in the project he's trying to share. The drum machine was just used as a test to see if they could use a drum machine in lieu of the internal metronome in Audacity. They've determined that they cannot. ...

Forget trying to sync the two. Create a MIDI track within the DAW, and use that to trigger the drum machine. Problem solved. When you coop with someone else, it is helpful to send on click as an audio file that you have created, to ensure their DAW is also exactly at the same tempo. Cheers I apprec...

The two DAW's might play back at a slightly different speed, but it doesn't matter because you are not trying to run them at the same time, like you were the drum machine. It doesn't change the timing of the wav files at all. One second of audio will be one second of audio on both machines. This do...

soft or hard?
I kinda expected some drift from the drum machine, but was surprised by how much. What about the discrepancy between files created on a laptop using audacity and files created via my DAW (DP using a couple 2408's and a PCI card) Am I using clock from the hardware side of things or is all this softwa...

Tempo drift between 2DAWs and a Drum Machine
I set the tempo of Digital Performer to 90 BPM, recorded 8 bars of a drum machine, which was slaved to DP, cut and pasted it for 4 and a ha;lf minutes. Then I "unslaved" the DM (uncoupled the MIDI cables), then on the DM I set it's clock to 90BPM, hit play and let DP record that for 4 and a half min...

change tubes in cheap mic pre?
Is it possible to upgrade the sound of a cheap tube mic pre by changing the stock tube? I have a couple Behringer ultragain pros and a ART DI/O Preamp that all have a single tube (12ax7 i believe) Yes, I know you can only do so much with cheap gear, but i guess I'm also concerned that the tube in th...

What's proper humidity level for a studio?
I just got a SalVal find - it's a clock with a temp gauge and a humidity gauge. My studio is in a basement room in a big basement that does get water when it rains alot. I keep a de-humidifier running most of the time no matter what, and it seems not too damp down there, but this humidity gauge show...

How do I know?
Haha I should have known better than to intimate waste. Its like blood to sharks to you opportunistic MFers. I guess it boils down to: is the thing worth having a qualified tech look into it? Unless some1 can tell me how to run down a dying resistor or such. I wiggled the tube and it doesn't ...

Can I/Should I replace the tube in my noisy tubemic??
I have an Alesis GTAM61 tube microphone that is going bad on me. When it was brand new out of the box it sounded great, but after maybe <50 hours of "on" time over the course of several years it is now noisy as hell. there's a constant low level crackle and hiss that is now loud enough that the mic ...

Does recording and mixing at higher bit rates increase CPU drain?
I often do band recordings (in 16 bit) where I'm recording maybe 14 tracks at once. My cpu is pretty stained at that point. Would bumping my DAW up to 24 bits push me into the red? And wouldn't mixdown have the same increased strain?
