I bought a high end classical guitar and this mic at the same time but find I don't use the mic much. Message me through tapeop or ebay.

First off > Holy Frijoles, I'll need to set aside some time to catch up! Bach, Tarrega, originals, Irving Berlin... my best attempt to agitate everyone ;} I guess that all kweis7 can do is kick as much ass as possible No problem there. I've heard him play and he's good. Chris Garges Charlotte, NC Se...

So the BMI guy has really been harassing the owner; I've not heard any of the conversations directly but the guy sounds like a true confidence dealer. If he had been willing to negotiate he might have gotten some $. She's irked by his vibe and doesn't like being strong armed. So, we have agreed to r...

kweis7 wrote: I'm curious how this particular restaurant got on the radar screens of both ASCAP and BMI. I know that they have the right to go in on their artists' behalf, but it seems an unlikely coincidence. Did the owner advertise live music? Regardless of whether or not there is live music ther...

No, they are not charging me, although I did play for a discount for a month to cover a bit of the ASCAP charge, which I suppose is the same thing. They have Musac, which covers the licensing. I often sell a CD or 2 and always walk out with good tips, on top of getting paid and fed. I'm making a lis...

BMI, ASCAP fees = lose my gig
I have a solo guitar gig at an Italian restaurant on Sunday nights. It does not pay a lot althought the tips can be good. I like the food and the paid practice a lot and having a steady Sunday is sweet. ASCAP hit the owner up for ~$400 bucks for licensing. I worked out a deal to play for a little ch...

What is "Asian" music? People say 'Latin' music as well. What does that really mean? Bossa, Salsa, Tango, Flamenco??? Pretty different music, depending on the actual country/style you mean. The gig was this past Thursday and we ended up playing fairly regular jazz stuff, hitting on some Chick Corea...

Thanks for the ideas! The drones idea is a good one and I plan on doing some such thing with my JamMan looper. I'll also go through the patches on my JV1010 to see what I can use there. I sort of have a 'no sequenced material' rule and use only loops created on the spot, generally, but I may have to...

Here are a few scales you can use... pretty much anything improvised in them will give you a quasi-Asian sound. What part of Asia? Did they say? This one has a Chinese flavor: 1 2 4 5 6 This one sounds Japanese: 1 b2 4 5 b6 This one sounds kind of Indonesian: 1 b2 b3 5 b6 There are tons of Indian s...

'Asian' music
So this is a gigging musician question: We played a gig at a local museum recently. First time we played there and it went really well. The museum called the next week and the lady said 'we'd like you to play for our upcoming lecture/dinner and we'd like music with an 'Asian' sound to it, is this so...

This would make for a great, trippy adult-swim cartoon. It would be quite a battle; seemingly the saw would have the advantage, being a cutting implement, but undoubtedly the theremin would be able to shoot laser beams or some such? I bet on the surprise, harmonious ending, where the theremin and sa...

Put it together yourself with your friends dad talking you through it. Make sure you do the typing when you configure stuff and have the comp sci guy tell you what to type. If you sit there and watch it will be like being a passenger in a car, not the driver. That way you get what there is to get ou...

Assembling a PC yourself will give you less savings than you might think, plus there are things you can screw up, like seating the CPU. If you've never put a PC together before it is a bit informative I suppose, but I don't think you're going to save much money, especially if your time is accounted ...

Christian McBride Band - Next the 'Five Peace Band'
Just got home from the CMB concert here in Gainesville and I would strongly recommend seeing this group. The music was super hip, virtuostic, funky and also pretty accessible. You would not have to be a hard core jazz fan to happily sit through the whole show. The whole band was awesome but McBride ...
