Chad Vangaalen/Women - Yoko Eno Studio

I'd love to see an interview with Chad Vangaalen about his Yoko Eno studio in Calgary. He recorded Women - Public Strain there in addition to his own stuff. His new album comes out next month on Sub Pop.

Thanks!

That article was awesome. It was also interesting to find out that they have mixed/mastered most of the albums themselves!

midlake -- the trials of van occupanther

This record is really, really good. Recorded at home and has a fantastic sound. They really captured a different era. Definitely deserves a Tape Op interview.

Will Roland ever re-issue the Space Echo?

Seems like it would be a good idea, no?

Replacement speaker for old Ampeg Bass Amp (B100)

I have a 70's Ampeg B100 amp that needs a new speaker. The current one looks like cardboard and begins to fail at moderate volumes. I'm guessing (by the name) that the amp is 100 watts -- it has a single 10" speaker, and is solid state. What should I look for in a replacement speaker? There's not mu...

Sorry, I wasn't very clear in my post... I understand that the JDI has a Jensen transformer, I guess my question is, how "Jensen-like" is the transformer in the Pro DI? I'm curious, if they 'fashioned' a transformer around a Jensen, how close did they get? There are some specs on this at the Radial ...

Radial Pro DI vs. Radial JDI

Has anyone compared these two DIs? Radial says that they use a "custom-made transformer that is fashioned around the Jensen transformer" in the Pro DI, and I'm wondering if anyone has heard how the two compare. The Pro DI is about half the price... http://www.radialeng.com/images/prodi-34r-dds-120h....

They all sound great, especially "there's a place" -- I always support xylophone usage.

Thanks for posting them!

I second those -- also check out MF Doom's "Special Herbs" series -- there are a handful of them and I believe that they're all instrumental.

I think the Stapes/Avenson's are based on the tape op omnis. Am I right?
