WTB: ampex 440b 2 track 1/4" headstack and heads

I have an ampex 440b-4 that I'd like to set up for 1/4" 2 track. Any pointers where to look? I used to be on the ampex list but it was driving me nuts so I cancelled it.

This is a great thread, I prefer it to the CC one since I'm not american. I have a bit of a rant to add to the discussion. I don't have a problem with everyone being a musician. The creation of art does have intrinsic value for the artist, and I encourage anyone to get in touch with their creative s...

i like mine.. not TOO noisy.. but lots of 'quirks' like you can't use them into unbalanced inputs. it just doesn't work, no matter what you do. i am using mine into the inputs of my emu 1212m at home and its really awesome for doing acoustic tracks in my bedroom. i'm sure you'll find some soon hiroc...

I think the song might be better served with a more "hi-fi" approach. Am I too forward in saying I don't like your voice? Sounds too hoarse. I'm kinda tasteless though. Thanks so much for the feedback, all. RWC, its all good! I know what you're talking about in my voice. I think it communicates the...

"moving song", a sad one. tears, feedback plz.

An old "demo" which is making it onto the album now that I've got cello in there. I think I'm happy with it. After Christmas, I'm going to bring all these mix files into the studio to make some final tweaks and (maybe) mix down to tape. Feedback is appreciated! Thanks. http://www.sleepytownsound.com...

of course the DI input on some preamps (i'm thinking of the hamptones specifically) sounds better than a DI box into the same pre...

I was considering it, but I'm in Canada so it makes more sense to just buy them directly from Phil.

I don't mean to tell you what you want, but I found a gigasampler 'bank' or whatever of a Pianet a few years ago that actually sounded BETTER than the Pianet T I had right next to the computer. I did a A/B and preferred the gigasampler version... certainly not as fun though as looking down at all th...
