I also have the R200 and it works great.

One of my friends mentioned that he actually sprays over the CDRs after printing with a clear coat of something. Whatever the clear Krylon spray is, or something to that effect. I'm sure it can be googled. Whatever it is, he says it keeps the ink in place.

Robert Sean Leonard sings it on the soundtrack... the guy from Dead Poets Society and that show House.

To add to what Steve said, I've had some success with the car services. Usually if you call and ask for a mini van or SUV you'll get one and that should give you a decent amount of space. You probably can't do a full band (amps and drum kit) but you can fit a lot of equipment that way. At least all ...

One more thing to consider: rain.. Not leaks, but the sound of it pitter-pattering all over your roof. You can also hear the wind blowing through the trees and little leaves and squirrels skittering around. Would work out great for a new age band, I bet. which reminds me... if you're by a bu...

I know of two bands personally that used their attics as studios. The thing they talked about the most with it was the heat. My friend and I did some recording in a NJ attic back in January and the lack of heat (and insulation) would be my main complaint. We were decked out in full winter wear whil...

Does your hard drive also have USB (2.0)? If so, you might have better luck using that for the external drive and then the firewire is exclusively for your interface. Another option would be firewire 800 if you have that on your laptop and the drive. Trying to do both on firewire 400 might be tricky.

I think I'll probably end up hitting some places in Brooklyn as I'm a short walk from Matchless, Union Pool, Trash, Lucky Cat, etc. etc. just for kicks here's the album we did last year, we're looking for someone who can improve on this sort of drumming I suppose: http://80h.com/80H015 don't mind th...

Yeah, don't I know it. I think we've learned that lesson. As you guys are saying, I'm really thinking we just have to get out to more shows.

Thanks,
Andy

That sounds like an angle worth checking out.

I'm certainly not expecting someone to just want to jump on board for free (of course that'd be nice!) so I'm ok with the prospect of paying someone... but how much I don't know.

resource for finding musicians (DRUMMER)?

Brooklyn & NYC My friend and I are looking for a rock & roll drummer and I would think it shouldn't be that hard in NYC/Brooklyn but we haven't had much luck. We're currently practicing with a friend, but he's a guitar player just switching to drums, so it's not quite there. Our last drummer moved o...

I've seen his name on a few 7" records as well as couple of CDs and he's credited for mastering so I assume there is no premaster in these situations (vinyl I mean) and he did the whole job front to back?

Thanks! Exactly what I was curious about. I know there's a lot of effort involved but I haven't seen credits for cutting the lacquers. I'll have to check out the Daptone stuff, I haven't heard any of the vinyl.

Who gets the mastering credit for vinyl?

This is more for the sake of curiosity (as I don't have anything going to vinyl) but let's say you have a project mastered for CD and then you take that to a vinyl mastering person to do the vinyl. That in effect turns the original into a pre-master. So which individual gets the mastering credit on ...

I think they recorded with Peter Katis at his place:

and then did some overdubs themselves at home.
I agree the album is great and sounds amazing.
