Hmm, m160's for GJ... I would have never thought to try those. I figured they would be to directional. I gotta try those! :) You guys doing any compression or anything to the 2 OH mics? I generally like them uncompressed, maybe a touch of EQ (especially the Fatheads, the Square State EQs have been a...

57's are cool for this!
Anybody use anything like KSM32's or AT4040/4033/4047/4050?

Mic choices for Glyn Johns/Recorderman...

If you use this technique, what mics are y'all using?
I'm doing this a lot these days, and have been using either a pair of Fatheads, a pair of Earthworks, or a pair of 57's (sounds better than you think) :)
I'd love to hear what other people are diggin' and why.
Cheers!

Vox or Crybaby, both good.
Morley's suck. :)

If you want to spend a little more, the Teese and Fuiltone wah's are excellent.

Also, a friend of mine has a Budda wah. Sounds great!

I gotta chime in here :) I recently bought 2 of these from Warren, and they pretty much kick ass! I'm still getting to know them, but man, cool sounds so far! Dialed up one of the best P-bass tones of all time last week. Killer for a dry 70's style 'wallet on the snare' thing. Really cool kick drum ...

If you're into guitars, Emerald City Guitars is cool, in Pioneer Square, kinda 'old' Seattle. All the above suggestions are good. Fremont is a fun neighborhood, as is Capitol Hill. Both are kinda 'alternative' type 'hoods. Ballard is cool (my hood :) ) locks are cool, Golden Gardens and Sunset Hill ...

posters with the avatar 2X12's, what speakers do you have in them? anyone do the combo of the vintage 30 and the G12H? that might be cool, but annoying when it comes down to "which speaker does the sound person mic?" One of my cabs has that combo. Sounds great. I usually mic-ed the v30, but sometim...

That movie is one of my top 5 favs of all time. :)
Also, that album kicks major ass. Paul Pena was a great musician that never got the credit he deserved.

Wow, thanks for all the input everyone. The room I'll be working in is actually being built right now. Russ Berger designed. Just walking around in there with no treatment up yet, I think it will be great. Yeah, Blumlein or MS was kinda what I was thinking. I've recorded them in our current space (n...
