Universal Velocity Microphone AV - XLR?

I have an old Universal Velocity Microphone nearly identical to the one below. Unlike the one in the photo, mine has what I believe to be the original cable, hardwired, with a very large 4-pin male connector. My question is: are there adapters available to connect the 4-pin to an xlr connector, so t...

It'd be interesting to see someone's note-for-note copy of a Beatles song using this. I'm thinking it'd sound pretty Karaoke Nite.

The instrument list in the literature is interesting, though...I wonder how accurate it is with respect to the original recordings...

I just listened to it this afternoon. I noted the trebly sound as well. It was not obnoxious, just kind of like an old AM radio type of sound (with the "tone" knob cranked). I think it's pretty cool, actually. Feist has a unique style and sound. Very pleasing. Best use of handclaps this side of Sloan.

Like bass, rhodes can be nice as a combo of mic'd up amp and DI. I often DI while I track, then re-amp later through my fender Blues Jr. or even my POD.

Another Tapeopper band: Preoccupied Pipers

Here are some songs recorded in my studio...(ADAT HD24, Mackie 24.4 mixer, Masterlink, UA 2108, 2 Distressors & Peavey Valverb are the main weapons). Influences: 1) Bands who plagiarize Beatle-influenced 70's AM Radio. 2) Bands who are into stoner-experiment-comedy. http://www.timbertrout.net/firepr...

Here is my mixdown technique (a somewhat direct answer to lotusstudio's original question): For background, I use an ADAT HD24 into a Mackie 24.4 mixer into a Alesis Masterlink. Standard connection between Mackie & Masterlink would be XLR-XLR, right? Well, I vary from that... I go 1/4" unbalanced ma...

If the drummer has completed a take, I rarely if ever go back and punch in a section. If we feel like it could be better, we do it again from the top. We go with gut reaction - we don't even go back and listen. "Keep those cans on beyotch, we're doing it again right now!" However -- If it's an incom...

"And She Was" by Talking Heads...

Not at all my "favorite" kick sound, but how they got that sound is beyond me...it's gotta be the most "prominent" kick sound I can think of. Digital reverb on kick - yeah!

Some of the Kick sounds on U2 - War are incredibly raw.

VH Bvox: I always assumed as a teen that they were the Bros. VH, because I had some knowledge of them being Dutch-born, and the Bvox had a sort of ABBA/Scorpions/Golden Earring English-as-a-second-language elocution to them. (Now, I don't even know if Eddie and Alex speak with any sort of accent... ...

Check out the beginning of "If it Makes You Happy" by Sheryl Crow. It sounds like a typical electric guitar with a miked amp - with its strings close-miked as well, providing an acoustic strummy sound. The strumming pattern of the two sounds seem perfectly identical, so it doesn't seem to be an over...
