I would like to make a record with an SM57 and some ingenuity :) Probably like many here, I did this back in the day when those were practically the only tools in reach of the home recordist/starving musician. To this day, it's some of the best music I've ever recorded. At that time, the Tascam 246...

I have both in mics. I like both, the rk12's are a bit brighter than the 47's. I'm using the 12's in a pair of 460 mods. There shouldn't be any voltage problem. If you did the mod, just check the voltage. I have the 47's in fet mics, they are nice, but my main mic is a Lt-381. It's great. Thanks fo...

Suggest A Mic Capsule For My Royer-Tube-Modded MXL?

Hey Guys, Built the Royer tube circuit (TapeOp #25) into my MXL 2001 a while back. Sounds nice but still has more sibilance than I'd like. I'm looking at MicrophoneParts.com, and would like to try either the RK-47 capsule or the RK12 capsule: http://microphone-parts.com/collections/capsules/products...

If you really want to upgrade things, get rid of those dinosaur SIP opamps. A bunch of the caps on that schematic are there to stabilize those opamps - all of the pin5 business. Modern opamps don't need that. A low offset opamp (Those Nat Semi LME series are good candidates) would allow you to toss...

Dbx units such as the 122 and 124 are a dirt cheap way to get basic expand/compress/normal functionality both pre and post tank. plenty of spring tanks even have rca connectors, about as plug and play as it comes. Using a DBX unit with a spring reverb tank is a good idea--at least I thought as much...

I just ordered the three foam parts from Full Compass on the recommendation of Adam at EV/Bosch. Not only were EV back-ordered on one part, but he said he doubted he could waive the minimum order charge. As it turned out, Full Compass had all the parts, and although those totaled $15 instead of $11,...

Wow, what incredible timing! I just got hold of an old RE-20 last Saturday and was just looking at this thread to see about getting the replacement foam. Thanks so much for posting the part numbers, and glad to hear the prices are still reasonable. If I call EV, I guess I can just ask for Patty? BTW...

I'd be interested in following the general progress of the project. I have a Sound Workshop 242 that I've been meaning to try a dual-tank noise-cancelling mod on. Or depending on the results here, maybe I'll just build up a new unit from scratch. . . .

Interesting video, thanks for posting. :D At the moment, two of my amps are with Roy, both Mesa SOBs. The problems are minor, probably power tubes/biasing. He's worked on both amps in the past, and has always done a great job for a reasonable price. Roy's a good guy--super smart, great sense of humo...

Man, I feel like an asshole. I woulda offered you $50 + shipping or something, but I didn't want to seem like an asshole. I can't win for losing. I hope someone really cool winds up with it. Hey, please don't feel bad my brother--I'm the one that sank $125 worth of parts into it, not too mention my...

Come on, people, where's the 4-track love? Sometimes these machines are asking $100 and up "as is"--this one is 100% working!

At least make me an offer. . . .
