never mind, it seems that the negative terminals are the four around the outside. While I was assuming that these were ground, it seems from some web surfing that all the caps share a negative, and it's the chassis?

I hope that's right. Thanks anyways tapeoppers.....

tube amps/filter caps

Hi, I'm working on building some tube amps for the first time based on the Tino Zottola books and I'm wondering if anyone on here might have some info to help me out with wiring in the filter caps. They are dual electrolytic filter caps - "can caps" - and I'm a little confused as to which terminals ...

#1. Engineer boys with beards, patchy or otherwise, are always a plus to engineer girls, and other girls as well I am sure. #2. I got my start in a studio run by a man who has really passed his prime in the business who I watched during my years there slip further down the slippery slope into audio ...

Re: shipping a 2" 24 trk

hmmm... i originally suggested my travelling as a pseudo-joke... now i'm actually pricing out the idea - gas costs, accomodations, food, 'amenities'...

it might work out to be affordable.... but if not are there any shipping companies worth trusting at all???

shipping a 2" 24 trk

I'm currently trying to price out the best way to ship an Otari MX-80 from LA California to Calgary Alberta Canada... I thought I'd check on the message board if anyone has reccomendations for the cheapest and most effective companies, or any experience with this kind of shipping. Or is my best bet ...

Re: Ever get paranoid about checking your mixes in the car?

I have created a policy for myself where I have to draw a line as to how much I listen to a mix and how much I change it. My most recent project was the first one I tracked, mixed, and produced all myself, and I went all the way to sitting in on the mastering. I remixed it so many times before the m...

Re: worst client ever

I'm just glad my control room doesn't have a window so I can sit there and roll my eyes give my monitors the finger when they get started like that. This is why I charge hourly. wow, I've never caught artists behaving like children on tape like this. This is funny cuz I was just thanking my lucky s...

Re: The Thing I Hate With Autotune

They need to come out with an Auto-tone or Auto-timbre. It doesn't matter how in "tune" your are if your voice sounds like someone is standing on your balls. -supro does the thought of that technology make anyone else want to vomit? I agree that some voices need help or should just not be singing, ...

That was may of 2003....and ITS NOT DONE. . dude... tell me you didn't do it for free. We've had stuff go through the studio that's taken up to three years to get completely finished, but it was always paying clients who paid for major changes, or it was the bosses wife's record label shit so we ha...

Re: Blue Robbie

I But seriously, who the hell thinks up this stuff at Blue? It's like they pay their engineers to do LSD, look at Dali paintings, and watch bad 80's robot movies while designing gear. What they need is some good old fashioned labcoat-wearing engineers who give names like 1176 and OBGYN. I'm not say...

Re: Fiberglass snowfall

funny that this thread about the suffering we go through with compressed fibreglass came up this morning, and then later on today I had to fuck around in it with my bear hands. I had to put up some shelves and had to slice through a few layers. I have a painful rash now. Also, let me tell you a litt...

I have a stinger practice amp that I cranked up and ran the vox thru. It was perfect for the song and the situation. I've always wanted to try the git pedal as vox effect thing... I've been working on too many r&b projects for experiementation like this...

Re: analog(ue) synthesizers.

if I had an endless supply of time and money with which to dink around with all the synths I'd like, I'm sure my answer to this would be different, but none the less:

I'm totally lovin the roland juno 6 right now.
