Re: Get off your Recording High Horse
From the first post: ...An artist shouldnt release art because its the best they had to coose from..... That's exactly the point the "older" guys are trying make. I worked with a band that wanted to do 10 vox tracks and comp them later, SIGHT UNSEEN! THAT'S the bad mentality. No one will begrudge yo...

Unfortunately, I don't have the session readily available. My approach wouldn't differ for the ambient track - I believe it mixed itself due to the limitations. (yeah, the other mix isn't very good.) The vocal is the same in both mixes - the clarity must come from the space given to her by omitting ...

SHOOTOUT: Close-mic mix vs. ambient mix. You decide!
I recorded these guys (The Colonel Dixies) in a storage shed a few years ago in southern Alabama, tracked to a 002 via Alesis HD24XR conversion. Basic tracks taken live, same room. ALL instruments tracked close-miced AND with a single U47 serving as a room mic. http://www.anicorettenightmare.com/aud...

Which UHaul vehicle is best for moving a 2" machine?
Going to pick up an A800 this weekend or next, and I don't know which UHaul to get - Passenger van or Box van, or what kind of ramp it should have....
Also, should I put it on a wooden pallet to dampen vibration?
If anyone's done this before I'd appreciate the input.

When I asked a guy this question, he told me to "grow some balls." And he was right. EQ'ing/Comping to tape will QUICKLY educate you on the matter - if you have 1 outboard eq, it's nice to use it on snare when tracking, and having it free for vox on mixdown. These things are nice. However, when the ...

Replacing Tom rims - standard, die cast, or wood?
I have to replace a bent rim and saw that there were options. Anyone have experiences with these things?

Though a new Ipod is due out tomorrow.., Feb '07 Nuts & Volts showed us how to hack the Ipod Docking Connector so that we don't have to take the crappy Headphone-jack output to our systems - there's a Line Level (-10dBV) out that's pre-Headphone amp: Pin1=Gnd, Pins 3 & 4 Audio. http://www.anicorette...
