Just picked up 4 dbx 166a units the other day. Nice gear, easy transaction.
It was local, so I got to peek at more things on this list, and some that aren't posted yet. Lots of stuff to be had at decent prices. Definitely worth a look.
Thanks a bunch, JD and Rick!

Something else to consider: give your "film crew" a copy of the lyrics for each song they'll capture. Then they can slate their takes as "verse 1" or "chorus 3" or whatever it is. I had a friend in college who filmed a band to make a video for a class project. They didn't do this, and they spent WAY...

Welcome to the board! I think you've got your bases covered. I'd like to make a suggestion not about content, but about delivery/presentation. You might avoid some of the appearance of its "wordiness" if you format it like a Frequently Asked Questions page. Make each of the numbered sections a link ...

Here's a quick pick from Airstream Audio's web site. http://www.airstreamaudio.com/assets/facilityroom.jpg Since this picture was taken, David's moved the iso box a bit to the right and added a second cinema display (I think they're both 20") swing-arm mounted on the right side of the Control 24. Du...

If you want to something similar on the cheap, go pick up (or cannibalize an existing) Wii remote. Then head over here and get cracking: http://www.cs.cmu.edu/~johnny/projects/wii/ The first video is about tracking your fingers through the air. The second is about turning any surface into an interac...

Yeah, we finally added some checkboxes on our "booking" sheet. Now whoever answers the phone will know they need more instrument details. Combo amp or head/cab? Strat/Tele? How many strings on the bass? What's his (or her) rig? Who uses pedals? which ones? Drums - sizes/# symbals? All that good stuf...

Couple more options. Copy your track and compress the copy really hard. Flatten it good but try not to over-squash and mangle the tone you like. In the mix, use the original track as your main instrument. Then, all super-sneaky-like, pull up the compressed copy. You can get a little more foundation ...

"Better" is a tricky word. Using an aux send will probably get more predictable results more often. And depending on your compressor and its controls, you might enjoy playing with the attack and release settings. These will control the "speed" of the ducking effect which will alter how fast the guit...
