At show I was playing, a guy thought it'd be a good idea to bring maracas with him. All a sudden I heard them going, and it drove me nuts. I looked up and had to tell a mutual friend to get him to stop. One of the most amazing things I saw was at a crooked fingers show. They were going to play a bar...

I was going to post something about this. I don't see how someone pulled this off. It's depressing seeing that outboard rack just cleaned out. I haven't seen a list of what was stolen, but keep your eyes open.

I'll definitely check them out. I love the concept of the series as well.

I'd be interested in Ben and Vesper and the mansuits sessions.

Those are the only two I've heard so far.

Yeah, I' realizing I'm learning a lesson here. I was going to call steinberg but it was too late yesterday and they are closed over the weekend. Figured I'd come out of lurking here and ask. I swear I kept the box, but everything got packed up to be moved into my garage studio when I got married, th...

Cubase sx3 serial number / dongle question

I have cubase sx3, my Mac died and a friend gave me his old g4. I'm trying to load cubase in the computer, but don't have the box anymore. I do have the dongle. Does anyone know if the serial number is stored on the dongle somehow?

Access privileges on old Mac hard drive

I'm trying to pull some files off an old hard drive from my dead computer. I put the hard drive into another Mac, and when I try to go into my documents folder, it says I don't have the access privileges to open these folders.

Anyone have any idea how to get into these folders.

I've got a suggestionnfor your live backing tracks. I played in a band with just two of us and a backing track coming from a laptop. I used cubase to play back the tracks. I gave each instument it's own output channel from my interface ( motu 828). From there I had two 4 channel rack di's. The di's ...

I'm not sure if this is what you're looking for, but I rmember some plugs called destroy fx that were fun and added some glitchiness.. And they were free! Probably do a google search to find them. I remember reading an interview with stryrofoam and he mentioned them.

Thanks for the info! I probably haven't done as much research as I need to on this, I was under the assumption that I'd have to buy new software to upgrade it. I just figured I have it, it works, why not just get something I can run it on.

Of course, there are other options like you mentioned.

Older macs

I'd like to replace my g4 that died. I'm thinking of getting an older g5 to replace it. All of the software that I have will not work on an intel mac, or at least I don't believe it would. (cubase 3, reason, uad1 card) I also haven't been doing any recording as of late, but want to have something I ...

Iactually got to listen to it some more and really like it. I was wondering if that was a Gibson acoustic on the last song. I recorded someone in my once and they too had a j45 and it seemed to just record itself, probably a combo of the player and guitar. Not to get too geeky, but what is your norm...

I downloaded the ep and have skimmed through it. I like what I've heard.

What are you using as far as gear goes. I'd love to get some sort of mobile recording set up.
