damn, I'll have to revisit my old r2r that had the same problem. It took a quick backseat to my Teac, cause the Teac worked right outta the box. An old tattered/moldy box of course...

I'd quote Joel's post, but then he'd have to delete it as well, but in response to that... FUCK!!!!! Ohh, and in response to those out there with the 12ay's with ground hum issues... Have you taken them to a bunch of different places and still ended up with the same problem? I'm just wondering if it...

If you can't come up with one, let me know, cause I deal with New Sensor/EH a lot, and they're usually good about sending me up schemes and such.

Wasn't Either/Or one that Elliott did on his 4-track, or was that only his first s/t album? I can't remember the exact interview that I read about the recording of it, but it's out there in the i-net archives somewhere.. If so, I'd say that the natural compression of those old tape decks had a big p...

damn! anyone know what those little stoplight looking bastards are in there? capacitors; those are very common. Nice. I've got this odd thing of really wanting to use certain caps/resistors that I find visually appealing, regardless of their actual characteristics.. I've got some caps laying around...

I pulled a 1000pf cap out of a stompbox project I was working on, and stupidly grabbed both leads between my thumb and finger. I didn't know that something that small would hold a charge big enough to shock, but it tingled a bit, and made me happy that it was only a tiny cap in a box instead of a bi...

+1 for ATDI and Fugazi and add another for Engine Down. On another note, when I'm recording them, I tend to not like them hard panned, but rather 80-90% or so. Depending on how much space you need for the rest, but if there isn't a lot of other stuff going on, not doing it so drastically helps to ha...

reamping is awesome, and no matter what type of reamp box you get, it'll be better than the DI trick.

search around this board some and you'll find tons of posts about the different brands, and also, what everyone is using them for, and a bunch of different situations.

Re: Strange "book" on eBay - "Pro Techniques

I don't know anything about this guy and have no stake in whether he succeeds or not, but while he's clearly not Bruce Swedien, a Google search does turn up quite a bit of info. I agree that he could be more forthcoming about what his actual experience was; it sounds a little like a "fluffy" resume...
