Just had a wonderful flashback to my Blueman days. Used to deal with this sort of thing CONSTANTLY. All of the aforementioned things could possibly be true, but what it sounds like to me is pull up/down. Short story is that video don't care about no timing issues when you convert frame rates, so you...

Michael Daves - Orchids and Violence out on Nonesuch

So I guess you're supposed to post stuff like this before the album release shows. But I'm a dummy so I didn't. Nonetheless, here I am! Anyway, a little over a year ago I recorded an amazing bluegrass band in a beautiful sounding chapel in Brooklyn. Michael Daves, Noam Pikelny, Tony Trischka, Brittn...

I think that the "I can't mix/record bass" problem has a lot to do with knowing what to listen for, when and how to listen for it, and being confident that you're getting it right. Even if you have a great room with high end monitors the low end changes as you move around, so it can be a moving targ...

WTB - Short scale bass neck. 30". NYC

The subject line says it all. Looking for a 30" bass neck. Anyone have one? Or know where I should be looking?

Thanks!

You got it. LA2A, ELOP, LA3A. If you don't have that sort of thing around just use what you've got with slowest attack and fastest release. Sometimes that can add some body back even if the comp isn't what you'd normally consider thick and gooey.

A lot of times when you cut low-mids you can pull things back together with compression afterwards. You can cut aggressively to make sure the woof is gone and then thicken things back up with a gooey compressor. In the case of the "expensive vintage mic" vocal a lot of times that muck disappears com...

Just recorded bass through my Ampeg Gemini for the first time. Sounded absolutely killer. Also had a good ole countryman DI which sounded like it should. Haven't done the mixes yet, so I don't know what'll get used. I've had situations where I favored the DI and others where I favored the amp. Usual...

Sounds really, really great. I also loved the levee style drums in "Sea", the stereo tremolo stuff is awesome, and I really dig the bass. What kind of bass rig were you using? Was also wondering about creative process - did you play everything? It's interesting that this type of music came from more...

Some clips and a website revamp...finally

I've been busting on my website for a couple weeks now. New polish on the whole thing, added some videos on the design/postproduction page. A couple of solo classical guitar clips from the new studio on the front page also. Looking forward to filling out the content once the studio action really ram...

Hi IDQ, thanks for listening. This mix was kind of a "get to know my setup" thing so in that sense it worked really well. Totally valid points on the drums and bass. Those were really decisions that I made while I was working. Kit has both room and verb, although not as much as the guitar. I kept ro...

First mix from The Studio @ Space Acres

Got a lot of things cooking recently, hot off the stove is the first mix out of my new studio. Surftastic sounds of the Cameramen from NYC. Check it out on my website:

Studer stereo channels for sale or trade - NYC

Hi all, I'm looking to part with 2 stereo input channels (1.960.254.83) from my Studer 962. Looking to trade for 2 mic/line inputs (1.960.245.00) plus cash or extras. Here's a totally random list of stuff I need, totally feel free to offer anything else you might find interesting. I'm open to pretty...

Thanks Greg, I definitely want to get that happening with a cool sign or something. Old school is new school again.

I got some pics up on my site, apologies for my terrible camera technique.
