Re: placing a room mic on amp / phase

Adding a second mic is ok if you have a cool sounding room ...the size and liveliness adding coolness to the finished product. As for phase issues, I never had it, but also hardly ever use a room mic on guitars.

Re: alesis wedge power supply problem?

Try a piece of tape to force the connection to stay still. Might or might not work, I dunno, that's what i've been doing for the past 3 years - it's too finicky to stay on with that even. Yep, did the same with a laptop ..it worked for a couple years. As for the Wedge, I miss mine. Used it on this ...

As a minimalist and starving musician, I've always had a mono send. And still do.

Latest gear I got ..its a custom guitar amp . .weird metal square box with rounded corners and a 4" hole with speaker. And tubes inside. Sounds nice to my ears.

Re: Upping my percussion recording skills

I'd probably go with the less lively recording space. As for mics, audition what you have, and pick what makes the shaker sit well in the mix.

A recent post talked about replacing knobs on a Pre-Amp and it got me thinking of a silly little question.

Who makes the prettiest out board gear?

What makes your rack look stellar?
Probably my fave are ones with large rotary knobs.

Re: Mixer like this?

So I am trying to find a mixer or summing box that can do a couple things that I consider straight forward, but I have not been able to find? Basically I just want a high density line mixer. Like 16 or 24 inputs in one or two rack spaces. I do need direct outs. I do want a bit of gain, and pan/bala...

Re: unhyped kick drum mic

I think about 4-5 of my mics make mechanical bump/scratch noises when subjected to kick drum that they don't make in other positions. They sound like a mic does when it's bumped just from the low frequency SPL of the drum. it's true. a bass drum needs a mic that can handle very high SPL, especially...
