Something from the Sweetwater Gear Exchange. When I noticed that the neck pickup is a Seymour Duncan Custom Shop Staple P90 (which lists for more than the guitar cost), I decided to go for it. The pickup is pretty cool, as is the Gibson P90 in the bridge. The guitar itself I'm not yet crazy about--...

I'm thinking mic placement and rolling off some lows should work with about any acoustic.

Over the years of sound/volume concerns I've learned two things: "seal any hole, no matter how small" ..And "avoid low frequencies, as they travel out, no matter what.

I recorded mandolin couple times but don't remember doing anything special . . just dynamic mic, pre, limiter, recorder.

My cassettes from late 70s are fine. And ones from 1980s and 1990s as well. Quarter inch from late 50s to late 80s are good too. I've had some bad luck with newer stuff, mostly 1" from 90s and 2000s.
