PS - we like the low-fi character of stomp boxes...

cool thanks. i think that unit is a bit complicated for his needs - he needs reverbs and delays, and they do not have to be pristine by any means. are there any workarounds to get the signal flow healthy w/ a regular guitar pedal? am i correct in assuming his signal is being mangled by running a mic...

live vocals - controlling delay from stage
hi - new band i'm in, the frontman likes to run his 58 into a boss delay pedal (impedance mismatch) then sound guys usually route from the pedal into a DI to get it to the console... i'm thinking a low-z source like an sm58, into a pedal which is expecting a hi-z source (guitar), then into a DI cann...

korg plastic
plastic, plastic, plastic! i don't care how they sound, they ooze lack of quality... many of these actually have plastic instrument inputs. can you believe korg would forgo a metal input jack to save a few cents per unit sold? fuck them and their cheese products. resting on their laurels. most marsh...

thanks for the replies. i do it all ITB, so i don't have any compressors on during tracking, and i record at 24/88. i've read in sonar forums that you can hit 'em hard, and when i have overs i do not hear anything nasty, so sonar must have some cushion, perhaps 6 dbfs. i can see how the crest factor...

peak + rms question
so in sonar, if i have peak + rms on my record meters, when i record drums, say kick for example, the gap between the peak and rms is huge, like over 20 db. so is the object to keep the peak from exceeding 0db, always? because in order to prevent peaks from reaching 0db, my signals are reading -30 t...

word length, editing question
so i understand that each move you make in an editor, math has to be done and it degrades the quality slightly every time. so it dawned on me to track instruments, and then save the project file, unedited, and store it away. then save a second project file and mix till my heart's content, saving as ...

i dug the 'kinderwhore' look, and she always had a hot bass player. but then, i like 'em kinda rough around the edges... i doubt she can write songs very well on her own. love her or hate her, she took a ride in the rock scene, and likely worked hard at it. something i wish i could have done. hookin...

i haven't been able to do much better than "get well soon", and it's nothing to write home about, sonically.
i play everything and record everything in a bedroom with humble gear.
jesus, myspace destroys high end...

we're trying to get away from dvd burning because it's such a time consuming drag, and we have so much material to archive (2-3 engineers touch each project, and it's difficult to get all the files together.) are optical disks condidered a safe, long term backup medium? this leads me to the question...
