850 seems a little expensive for a g3 since they are up to the g5 right now.
you can get them on ebay for half of that unless of course your friend has some extra audio hardware or something you didnt mention.

Sure makes some good ones but they are expensive.
the better situation would be for the singer to learn to sing without the dependence of a good monitor mix cause sometimes that just dont happen.

its the same principal as micing any instrument, different placements create different tones and character. put the mic where it sounds good for the specific singer.

ive had other people ask if those are real drums and yes they are. ive always liked the drum sounds he gets.
