here is an idea, maybe work out your parts at home then go to someone else's place to hang out and track? i've done that before where i've gone to a friends place who had a nice sounding high ceiling living room or something to record in. have you stuck things in the bathroom yet to get cool sounds?...

i build my own as well. i don't know about anyone else, but i really dig being able to make snakes and cables to the lengths i need. i really don't like having an extra foot or two of wire in a rack or in a pile behind something if i don't need to. also nice to keep some bulk cable, connectors, etc ...

wow, i love looking at tape op later in the day when all the cool threads have already gotten violent once or twice. heh. so yeah, the room matters but what about air volume effecting the sound? i'm sure reflections of the sound absolutely affect what ultimately is captured. i think the air the spea...
