Or just email Mike off of the Sytek website. He emailed me back within a couple of hours with price, shipping and ordering information. Very nice guy.

Re: Books? What are you reading?

I've been reading "The Life of Pi" and it is a truly enlightening book. I won't go into the storyline because it is too complex and deep to detail, but it beautifully blends the scientific with the spiritual. And the language is truly captivating. Speaking of Fear and Loathing in LV, did it make any...

Re: David Kucinich for President

Yeah, isn't that fucking sad. The guy is cutting through all the bullshit of the last 3 years but in the end it's not going to matter. The majority of American voters get their information from CNN and their local paper which do nothing but glamorize the candidate with the biggest personality. What ...

Re: Question about Pavement

Concubine, You are correct that Sonic Youth began experimenting with alternate tunings long before Pavement was even a band. Sonic Youth adopted it from the Velvet Underground. I should have been more clear. Thurston Moore adopted a particular tuning from Stephen Malkmus after touring with them. I b...

Re: Question about Pavement

I still do and have loved Pavement for a long time. I don't consider them groundbreaking or figureheads of a certain music movement, but I love their attitude. Stephen Malkmus has developed a style of singing and playing out of tune and uses it as an effect. He'll be out of tune until you can't stan...

Oh, I know that I am vain
Take this weight from me

Re: Yoshimi, Kid A, Sophmore Slump etc...

I think of recording as a building process. First you lay down the essentials that hold the song together (the exception being vocals). Once you have your song framed, then you can add decoration. So you kind of build the song up until it is a full composition. Listen to Built to Spill albums. Doug ...

Re: Rode NT4. $300 on ebay, should i buy it?

I just bought one (maybe from the same guy) and it should arrive by Monday. I'll let you know my thoughts after I get to try it out Monday night. I bought it for field/live recording for my DAT, but I'm also interested in using it for acoustic guitar. I read up on it a little before buying and it se...

Re: let's talk mid-priced stereo mics

I've been wondering about the Rode NT4 as well. I recently bought a Casio DA-7 and have been looking for a good, but inexpensive stereo mic. Anyone have any experience with the SP stereo mic? For those with experience in this area, what is your opinion on running mics with a battery as apposed to so...

Re: How do I know what Radio Shack stuff to snag?

Anyone have any experience with the Realistic Reverb unit with the sliders? They are going for around $15 on Ebay and I remember several people on the board using them a year ago.

Any opinions?

Re: Hunting for an acoustic...

The Martin D-15 is the best sounding Martin around. Everbody talks about the HD-28 and 35 (which run about 3000 each). For the money, the 15's and 16's are much better guitars. I especially like the 000-16. The smaller, thinner body give it a really well-balanced sound. Tacoma's are great. Also, loo...

Re: Hunting for an acoustic...

As a guitar player and a former instrument salesman, I would definitely recommend the Seagull line of guitars. They will sound better than any guitar in that price range. I would stay away from Fender, Epiphone and Takamine because most of their line of guitars are manufactured in Korea or Indonesia...

Re: Demagnetizing: A few questions

I have a sub question: What is a good demagnetizer for a 4 track RtoR? From what I've read, most recommend the Han-D-Mag which is like $50 and from what I understand, geared toward 24-track heads.

Is there a cheaper alternative?
