since i work almost exclusively in the digital realm, i have done a couple of experiments with tape. cassettes mostly, since my card only has 2 ins and 2 outs. after dumping to cassette and re-recording back into my machine, i have found that the waveform itself is noticably altered. rounded edges r...

i won't pretend that i know a lot about macs, but when i first got started on pc i got a lot of clicks and pops that were related to my card and settings, but i also had a lot of clicks and distortion because of power settings, and screen savers. maybe something to look into.

i did a disk through cravedog. it was no hassle, and cheap to boot. i was sold once i heard what the shipping would be.. $50 freight! no UPS! compared to my last runs which were done in canada and then mailed to me ground, this was a major blessing!

if i'm right, its only the tracklist info that's in XML, and that's being loaded into a generic flash player. i could be horribly wrong, but i would check that you have shockwave and the newest flash stuff installed.

i will second what most people are saying here, and perhaps offer some insight into what other non-engineer types think about "mastering". i work at a record store (with a single disk player), and i listen to at least 8 albums a day, if not significantly more when everyone plays nice and stays away ...

for reproduction, i've used bellwether twice and cravedog once. they both got the job done well, and on the relative cheap. the difference between the two is the hidden cost of shipping. bellwether subcontracts all of their jobs to canada, which leaves you stuck with the bill of freighting your 1000...
