What cgarges said. Don Gehman got a ton of deserved credit for the LRP drumsound. I remember when I said I wanted that sound on our record (back in '96), and the A&R lady knew exactly what I was talking about. It makes a lot of sense though...that record was Jangle Pop's Loveless in a lot of ways......

Qauntum Audio Labs

I picked up a QAL, 10 channel board off of craigslist in Portland, OR the other day, and I'm dying for schematic! I absolutely love the way it sounds...big without mud, and very well chosen fixed eq. Bottom line is I want to put whatever I need into it to make it perfect. Fortunately, the ICs are al...

Seventh Circle Chassis w 1xA12 and 1xN72

Hi folks, I don't record more than one channel at a time anymore really, and I decided to invest in a Chandler LTD-1. So, I'm selling the Seventh Circle. It's been gathering dust for the last three months. This came as a prebuilt N72 unit (Tim built the chassis/PS/N72), and I added the A12 myself. M...

Aren't some of the drums on the Soft Bulletin single mic'ed? The Flaming Lips album? Ill check it out, I just want to see what some sounds are I can get with only one mic. With the right multi-ban settings you will be very suprized at what you can get... INDEED. It kinda sucks the life out of a goo...

I've been playing with the R84/R92 for a week, and I'm in love! I think a ribbon would be perfect for less than ideal environments, because so much of the tone is going to be the mic itself. Also, I find both of these mics to be a little noisy (with lots of gain, which they require), but it's a trad...

yeah, it depends on money. always, it seems. you can actually buy vintage...look at pawn shops, local weirdo places for Altec mic mixers and Ampex machines. Or drum up exactly $100,000,000 for class a discreet warm punchy valve tube sheen-like hit machine like the DW Fearn stereo pre and an Atomic S...

Hiya... I had a powerbook g4 1.33 with a 1.5 gigs of ram... I recently got the 1.9 gHz G5 and, with 1.5 gigs of ram, it's pretty astounding. I can't stump it, but then again, I don't use many plugs. Editing, bouncing, number crunching is so fast now...really nice. I also wonder if the macbook pros a...

you may want to check out that drivers page...I only see "PPC" plugs for 10.4.3 and above. Chances are you're funning later OS than that. I don't see Intel drivers...doesn't mean they aren't out there..might be worth a call to m audio. I did you use logic on a mac with a quattro for a couple years.....

Hiya, As far as the 1010 vs. Mackie, it's hard...I had the 1010 a long time ago. I really thought the 1010 sounded good, but ya know you keep on buying stuff. And reading ding dong stuff on the internet. I do remember thinking the Firepod sounded better than the 1010, but again bad dirvers and QA on...

Review: Mackie 400F

Someone requested a review of the 400F, so I thought I'd share my experiences. At the time, I was recording on a PowerBook G4, 1.33gHz, with 1.25 gig of ram, into Logic. Converters I have great history with mediocre gear. Let's see: m audio delta 44, m audio quattro, m audio delta 1010, presonus fir...
