need some newbie protools. dumping from 8trk RtoR. advice?
I'm completely ignorant of digital recording. I'm just starting the business of sifting through websites, talking to knowledgeable friends, visiting music stores, etc. to learn about it. I've been recording onto a Tascam 80-8 1/2" tape machine for about 10 years with fairly good success. I've got a ...

How do I set the recording level on my Alesis Masterlink?

So....what's the latest on "Where to get Reel to Reel T
I know this question's been asked before, but I also know, things have been changing back and forth like the wind. What's the best source these days for a substitute for Ampex/Quantegy 456-----I'm looking specifically for 1/2". MANY THANKS for any info. (and thanks for your patience....like I said, ...

Hello ! I have a situation similar to yours, I have an 80-8 (still doing the 1/2" tape) and I mix it to a stand-alone cdr deck. (this mixdown I can send to be mastered or whatever). My recent problem is that stand-alone CD-burning decks are becoming less popular and there are fewer choices in the ne...

There actually aren't too many being made right now it seems. Strange, because for what I use it for, it seems there would be plenty o' others who would buy/use it for the same stuff----quick, cheap and easily distributed rehearsal tapes when your band is practicing and wants to remember the arrange...
