I'm with you there. I think jazzmasters in general are unfairly overlooked. Love 'em.

If you did want to have a control room the bottom left corner might be a better spot for it. I've worked places where the iso room shared a wall with the control room and while it works ok it can be a little distracting when getting tones because when tracking something loud like guitar or bass so m...

Lol, I wouldn't worry about how it sounds just yet. You have a more basic problem with the control room called getting in. :D

Thanks for the help guys. Seems to be some discrepancy whether the 003 or the FS provides the master clock. I'm thinking of the BLA mod for th3 003 but if I have to use the FS clock that doesn't make sense does it? Why not? You're not just getting a clock upgrade. What about the analog circuitry an...

Are you for sure you're actually hearing reverb? If not did you maybe select analog 1 instead of bus one (or whatever number bus you happen to be using)? Or is the output of the aux incorrect? Yeah, I hear a small amount of reverb and see the level-meters just barely moving. And again, I gotta slam...

I have seen some cats get a great sound by using dedicated vocal mikes for the reverb and clean. It kinda obviates the need to have a footswitch and also allows you to put the verb on single words or phrases. When I mixed the Willy Waldman Project, this is what Willy did with his trumpet. Worked gr...

The first thing I'd check is the tube. Can you get the one it came with from him (or another known good 12AX7)?

I hate even asking this since it's way too obvious a thing, but it's something I actually did myself once.. Do you have the leads patched into the wrong jacks?

Re: Nice roomy vocals without the nice room

Is it out of the question to put two mics next to each other (electrical tape two SM57s together, for example), and apply a 'nice' room reverb on one of them? How would the 3 to 1 rule apply here? This might be slightly OT but I saw Jack White do a similar thing live once, with the mics spread just...

Well, the story is, a number of my mixing board input channels now have I think 18 of the 28 electrolytics bypassed. This was possible because of less filtering needed after a chip upgrade. Admittedly I copied Jim Williams' mods that were in the mixing board I bought and the upgraded channels sound...

this may be a stupid question, it's in regards to the tubefire's monitoring capabilities, and lack of master analogue outs. if i understand this correctly, if i want to record using all 8 pres (and only monitor via headphone) - and then use two of the trs outputs for playback from the daw (not moni...
