Re: Latest gear you've acquired.....

I picked up a slightly used parlor guitar a few days ago, from "Simon and Patrick". Canadian maker, somehow affiliated with Godin, Seagull, and the like.
Nice price for a solid wood guitar, now to brush up on my cowboy chord work.

Re: Latest gear you've acquired.....

A pair of attachments for my cajon (ouch!). I had a song in my head that needed castanets. They attach with velcro tape, but for my recording, sounded better unattached (the tape is just one strip in the center, and the castanet rocks too much, hitting the surface of the cajon and making a non-casta...

Given a choice between barfing on a hardwood floor and a rug, a cat will choose the rug 99.8762% of the time.
So will a dog (ask me what I was doing at 1:30 am).

I think I have the same one (Frank Bello model?).
I got a deal on it on ebay. I need to tweak the neck for the summer, somehow the strings went from too high to laying on the frets during a period of not being played.

Re: Latest gear you've acquired.....

A Nuvo "Dood", which seems to be a kid's starter clarinet with recorder leanings. Not the worst way I've spent $30.
I got the black one with blue trim.

CraigS63: Looks cool, I love me some Bigsby, and I'm even getting accepting of Chinee guitars - some are even playable stock!
The guitar is Indonesian, I think. Still tweaking it to get the magic balance of truss rod/height/Bigsby all sort of working.

Re: Latest gear you've acquired.....

$27 Chinese B*gsby B7-ish bar for my $25 flea market Samick semi hollow guitar. I was looking for one without the bar the strings go under, but settled for this one. Left the old tailpiece bushings in place (it seems to sit level on them). Previous refinements included tuners, Seymour Duncan P Rails...

Re: Secret Chords

I like this one to simulate the Hard Day's Night opening chord on one guitar (and no bass, and no piano)
low to high
3 3 0 0 1 1

I think all the right notes are there (especially double, if I'm on the 12 string).

Re: Latest gear you've acquired.....

2016 Ric bass (4003S) in midnight blue, recently off of ebay. In great shape (unlike myself)!
On a friend's recommendation, I stuck Rotosound swing 66 strings on it.

A Focusrite Saffire 18i8 interface (Alesis io26 intermittenly crapped out and/or wasn't supported by the last several OSX upgrades. Alesis is on my shit list for their "upgrade/update" policy on that one). More recently, a Marshall "Regenerator" chorus/flange/phase/step phase (a cool sample and hold...

Me too, it and "Heaven Tonight" feature a mandocello, tuned like I said.

I always wanted to learn, "Mandocello".
That would be a little harder to do the "right" way, it looks like the tuning is unisons - CC GG DD AA.
Maybe restring a 12 string guitar and leave some strings off?

Re: Latest gear you've acquired.....

Got an 8 string bass from ebay last week, for under $300 and hard case as well, new strings and working battery. An ESP "Frank Bello" model FB-208. I'm way more of a Cheap Trick guy than Anthrax, but the latest model Tom Petersson endorses is $12,000. Now to learn to play the thing ... https://i.img...
