Good non-DAW software for your Audio Computer

I'm about to build my computer today and I was wondering what software I should look into that's not music recording related. For example, I will have an internet connection so anti-spyware, anti-malware. Maybe some optimizing registry software or something. Just wondering what you might have learne...

Well I said that I would also use this machine for moderate gaming...nothing too fancy, but enough to play some games that came out a few years ago.

And I'm looking for some 19" monitors, preferably with DVI outputs.

Building a computer for the first time! Please lend a hand!

Hi all, I'm building a computer for the first time, and am gearing it heavily towards audio. I currently run Pro Tools on my laptop and need a bigger, and badder machine to get my recording done right. First of all, I want some good dual-monitors, one side for waveforms, and one to view faders and e...

I love the Arcade Fire but I felt the album felt over-produced (but a with couple of weeks per song is it possible not to?) I definitely think Funeral was stronger song-wise and that only a few songs really stuck with me after my first few listens. And the church organ? I thought it came off as a li...

Yea, sorry... I meant punk-folk but sometimes I suffer from slyxdexia.

Craig-

That must have been a blast playing with the Haints, they have a cult following down in here in Alabama. They're actually playing a show on Saturday if anyone happens to be in the Auburn/Waverly area!

Thanks for posting this! I've struggled with with that for a long time. I'm currently an electrical engineering major at a University but it's been a dream of mine to go into recording for a career. I looked at Full Sail over the summer, did the tour and everything. I've had two brothers go there. O...

Thats just the second band I've heard of with a song about a Ghost Train that uses special whistle effects, the accordian, and mandolin. I've never heard any funk-polk though, I bet thats a fun and interesting band to record.

Pro Tools can be unreliable but even Digidesign knows this! If you just recently purchased PTs, you're still entitled to a months worth of over-the-phone tech support. Also Digidesign offers two good means of online tech support at their forums and at the main site under the "support" tab. Forums: h...

Wow, that's the kind of thing I've been expecting to come out of these boards. I really dig that song, as a bit of constructive critisizm I think the part with the ping pong echoed "Song" or "Sun" was a little harsh. As an obscure instrument lover I definatly approve!
