again thanks for the informed replies. i THINK theres a tube inside the body--- at least thats what someone else on the 'net said. i tend to agree, as the pins on the bottom line up and feel semy springy to the touch. i cant find a screwdriver small enough to go inside or i would dive in and see if ...

thanks for the reply yeah that is really close looking. i wonder what this is? looking at the body, i dont think it has had the logo sanded off. i dont think there is one there, but maybe thats because it was rebuilt? obviously the body is a tube like you said.. so do i need a special power supply f...

Is this an Oktava or Schoeps mic?

hey gang-- ive been scouring the 'net for a few hours now and cant find anything about this mic. Any idea what it is? it came with a Schoeps Power supply (dont know if its working, the light isnt at least) and looks like an Oktava Lomo, but there arent any Oktava markings on it anywhere. Note that t...

i should first say that i am a bona fide analog purist and elitist a$$. that said, i would check out the alesis ion and/or micron, both in your price range used. when i checked them out and played with them, i was like uh, um, uh, ok. alesis learned a lot from the andromeda and then modelled it and ...

i have been listening to this record a lot lately, love radiohead and love this too, although the producer in me questions some of the songs longevity. i also make this kind of music, so i kinda know wassup. i KNOW he recorded all this with longtime producer/friend nigel godrich. im not sure what ni...

good review. ive dropped a couple notes about this here and elsewhere-- i have the oneQ though. something thats not very well documented to be aware of-- the "iron" switch is ONLY inserted through the mic inputs, so dont think youre putting tranny coloration if you go through the line or line input ...

wheres the book?

i read awhile back in the intro by larry that a new book was coming out.

any current info on this? i love my trusty old red and black one. took it with me like a blanky. helped to comfort me when i was crying because my mixes sucked.

i spy a speaker being used as a kick drum mic.
