Re: DI bass and guitar

I play in a band where electric bass guitar is the only pitched instrument. It kinda has to carry things.

Horses for courses.

Re: DI bass and guitar

Ahhhh...yes, those funny 4-pin phenolic connectors. Clearly drawn on the B15-NC schematic (and the NF and XT, and older Ns?): https://drtube.com/schematics/ampeg/b12nc-jp.gif The B15S apparently uses the same connector, but it doesn't indicate the standby connection: https://drtube.com/schematics/am...

Re: DI bass and guitar

That Ext Amp jack is a bit odd - certainly when seen from the perspective of today, with our TRS "insert points" that are an input and an output hidden on one plug. That Ext Amp isn't one of those. It's just a point in the heart of that circuit between the preamp and power amp. If you plug into it, ...

Re: DI bass and guitar

Looking over the schematics, they're all pretty similar (N, S and X models), particularly in regard to the Ext jack. It's indeed a spot where both preamp channels come together to feed the power amp. If you're not getting signal there, the thing overall shouldn't work. It's off standby, right? https...

Re: Best Monitors for the Room

I added a sub in early 2019...it took some learning on my part to get it integrated. I also added some serious bass trapping as the process evolved. Working with low frequencies got significantly easier as a result. I could probably do a mix on Minimus 7's with the sub filling in the hole. The vario...

Re: DI bass and guitar

I so want a tube PF (lookin' at the 50), altho' my PF500 is pretty great live - reminds me, I never tried its DI ... Re yers - think about re-amping the DI track? With a real reamp box, it's perfectly possible - I tried feeding it right for the console, and it didn't work do well.. The straight DI ...

Re: DI bass and guitar

I splurged about a year ago and got one of the new Ampeg tube flip top setups. The PF20T head with the matching 1x15 cab. The head has two DI options - one is a preamp out, and one that's from an extra winding on the output transformer. My finding is that I have to pick whether to focus on using it ...

Another Analog Setup - Soundcraft 600 + Tascam MS16

Howdy all, Since it's close cousin just sold, i though I'd see if there's any interest in my old analog setup: Soundcraft 600 Console. 24 inputs, 8 busses, 16 tape returns, onboard TT patchbay. Removed from a video post studio around 1998, recapped around 2000, has lived an easy life with me ever si...

Re: EQ in line of speaker cables?

You're kinda describing the Vidsonix Virtual Crossover. It was intended for speaker DIY-ers as a tool to tune crossovers, eventually replacing it with actual passive components. Review by Mr Pass: https://audioxpress.com/files/attachment/2625 We like the VCB-100 a lot, and recommend it highly. Appar...

Re: Chairs?

I can echo a couple sentiments above. I'm old enough that I like my chairs like I like my shoes. The same one(s) every day leaves me hurting - being able to rotate is useful. It doesn't always have to be fabulous quality, just something else for a change. I also like being able to remove/lower/swive...

Re: Cassette headphone out shorting...

Thanks for the model. I'd somehow pictured something more like a Marantz ENG deck. From the Amazon feedback on that guy - check that you got the right power adapter with it. An external power adapter like that usually isolates the device from the wall, too. So no ground reference provided, avoiding ...

Re: Cassette headphone out shorting...

So what's the exact model of tape player causing the problem? Any idea when it was manufactured? There's a funny design shift for headphone jacks that's popped up somewhat recently...mainly driven by portable devices (MP3 players, phones, tablets, etc). The sleeve of the headphone plug won't actuall...
