I know that you can't (or shouldn't) choose speakers by reading specs and reviews, but I wanted to have some things in mind before doing my listening. I know the same also applies with receivers/amps, but I'd still be interested in hearing what people have to say about NAD receivers. They seem to be...

haha, ok; I didn't realize that the Axioms were that much better than the Paradigms. I have a little bit of history with Paradigms, never heard an Axiom, but have read praise upon praise. As far as the NAD receiver: I'm looking at the following models (but would be up for suggestions) 712, c352, 713...

This is precisely the thread that I almost just started... I'm in sort of a weird place. A recent grad, I worked in the school of music's recording studio all four years and got pretty comfortable with the Focal Twin6 Be's. My current home setup leaves a lot to be desired (especially when I remember...

Thanks for the info on the Saffire. Now, the original mbox used Focusrite pres...are the pres in the Saffire different/better? I'm assuming that even if they're the same, that the converters would be better...

no?

Now that you mention it, I used to put Martin SP+ on my Guild. They were pretty decent.

Another take on things: how much better are the pres/converters in the Duet as compared to the Presonus and Focusrite offerings? They're about the same price, but the rack units have eight pres as opposed the the Duet's two. I'm sure that the duet would sound better, but by how much? I'm using an or...

Yup.

I don't remember if it was ever available for Windows, but since Apple bought it from emagic it's been Mac only.

Thanks for all the commentary; it's been really helpful.

I'm wondering if anyone can comment on the FP10 vs. the Focusrite Saffire Pro...I'm looking for a new interface, really wanting the Apogee Ensemble, but not having the cash to pull that one off.

Any comments would be much appreciated!

The mic technique that Rodgre was mentioning sounds really interesting... In the next couple of days I'm going to be starting an experiment: Drums + piano with just two channels. It might not work at all, but I'm going to try. The room is 36x38x15, and I have a fair assortment of mics to choose from...

+1. From a mix standpoint, I think that the vocals could come forward a little (but not too much) but I like the way things lie, generally.

I also agree that the intro/instrumental parts could be trimmed a bit.

But, overall, I like it.
