Live dub mixer here. These are a few of my favorite pro tips for live dub: Send a quick snare shot to the spring verb, then quickly hand-gate the verb send up and down for a tremolo dub snare effect. Flash the vocal fader up and down real into a long delay patch for a stuttered vocal dub trip out. S...

if you have say a desk with 24 channels but only 4 outputs/busses, what's the point of having all those channels? 20 channels for overdubs? Seems a little bit much to stick that many channels on a board and not have as many outputs. This is one of those questions that could be answered by actually ...

Well, sorry for the mild snark, I guess, but I genuinely had NO IDEA what you meant by "fake performance" in the context of a single woodblock hit sample. If you had been talking about loops or something it would have made sense. But frankly in the context you were asking about (single hits for a cl...

He sends me an email tuesday, which I don't answer. Wednesday, another email. I still don't answer. Then he writes me on friday and starts getting rude. "Not a good way to do business". (I do agree that it isn't good to not answer emails for a few days, but coming from an 18 year old rubs me the wr...

Re: Client wants...
It was precisely a Work for Hire agreement that I wanted, and that she would not sign. While I'm not a graphic designer, I'm not sure how she'll ever use those files again. I on the other hand, could actually get some use out of them. I'd want the work for hire agreement, too, I like to mess around...

Re: Client wants...
When I tried to apply this logic with my graphic designer for our last record, she would not budge. The individual work files constituted her proprietary intellectual property, yadda-yadda-yadda She was right to do so. Graphic design work files are not analagous to stems or recorded tracks, unless ...
