Powering an Electret capsule
hi folks, I need to modify a Telex aviation headset to have its own power supply. Literally, a wall wart connected to a 1/4"TRS connection. The headset microphone is an electret that runs on an 8-15v charge. I am assuming that a full 48v would burn out the capsule itself?, thus the wall wart :Elpac ...

From the beginning, Mr. Hands did little to ingratiate himself either to EMI?s own employees or executives within the industry, a famously clubby business wary of outsiders. He acknowledged that he is not a music person, and has turned down invitations to visit the recording studio to watch artists...

But if I'm reading you right, you want to take a stereo L/R track, convert to M/S for processing, then convert back to L/R. The method you use is pretty slick since it all happens within the plugs of one stereo channel. If you want to process the sides individually you should be able to insert a "m...

MS techniques in the box
Hi folks, DAW is PTle6.9,OSX10.4.8. For additional plug-ins i run FxPansion's VST-RTAS wrapper. One means of MS processing i use is to insert Soundhack's encoder (LR-MS) on a stereo channel's first insert. Then whatever plugs to process on the following inserts, then a second instance of Soundhack's...

I track at 24b/48k in PT le 6.9 When mixes are complete and i have sample rate converted to 44.1, i am left with two options (ITB). Bounce to Disk and throw a plug in (Izotope Ozone or WaveArts Final Plug) on the master fader, engaging the many possible dither type options provided by such plugs... ...

God, there's so many factors to this shit and every time someone answers one of my question I have way less of an idea of what I should actually do to solve my problem. This is so confusing. I mean, it's simple enough to clap or stomp a floor... but having any idea what to listen for or what that m...

Okay. We don't have our space yet. I guess may I should have asked FIRST was... When we're looking at spaces, what should we look for to know if the room is going to need minimal treatment or huge amounts of treatment? I have never treated a room for acoustics before nor do I know anyone around her...

Bravo Roboburger
I like your FOH attitude. Well done. I too have mixed many avant performances in venues ranging from The knitNY and The Kitchen to small non-existant back rooms and empty warehouses. I DO know that all venue management i've dealt with would be blacklisting this guy. I worry for anyone who becomes th...

So roboburger, i'm curious about your house manager's position in all this? i assume you're the stage manager, as well as FOH, thus you're reaction as well (video commentary withstanding)? I mean, i've mixed my fair share of avant performance, but this appears to be more of a highjacking of the stag...

Thanks qBert! Right on. Looks like some phone calls may be in order.... Though the funds really should go to bass trapping my rehearsal//studio rooms.... CONFLICTION!!!! I've actually worked with a soundcompany in the past, that would use them (Ramsa of an unknown series) as FOH and Foldback console...
