Re: 500 users, please to 'splain yerselfs

I do feel and hear differences between 'em, and enjoy the process of trying out different combos, different levels, even different orders of hardware; I kinda feel like I might lose that if I go 500, and as well, that it could get even more expensive ... Expensive, maybe. That said, how would you l...

http://www.sweetwater.com/insync/radial-headload-guitar-amp-load-box-demo-sweetwater-at-winter-namm-2014/ Another one of those significantly delayed Radial products I see? Looks like a cool box but where is it? And how much? $600 is what I read on one post? That video is from January and they said ...

Yep. I've got one and use it every now and then. My biggest use is when the amp isn't super loud and it's in the same room with the drums. A mic on the amp gets too much bleed but the JDX is perfect. I also use it on bass amps quite a bit. It sounds great. Wow for bass...that's really cool....I lov...

Re: Setting up something small and easy - help?

1. I have a MacBook (white) that I use for work. It has a 2.4 GHz Core 2 Duo processor, running Mavericks, with 3 gigs of RAM. But, as I said, it is my workhorse for the job. Is it possible to use this computer as a "way station" between a fast hard drive and a decent interface, so that I don't hav...

While I don't want to be a Debbie Downer, this is what I(knowing what I know now) would consider -

If you buy a cassette four track, do you want anyone but you to hear the songs?

If the answer is yes, you'll have to work out how to get them onto some sort of stereo format.

If we're talking lower wattage, isn't that Jim Root Orange signature head around fifteen watts?

At the risk of oversimplifying things, how did the tracks wind up in Pro-Tools?
Did you record into Pro-Tools?

If you like your setup and want to start with dynamics, try the pvm 520 as the overhead.

I've had a decent bit of luck with it in some "Don't use a kick mic on that!" applications.

While I know I've said this sort of thing elsewhere recently, trial and error is your buddy. Take stock of the gear you have access to. Work up possible recording methods. Try then out and see what gets you the closest to what's in your head.

Are you aiming for a particular drum sound?

Just give it a try. If it is an issue, you can take it from there. If not, you can just keep on truckin'.

Way back when, you would see video tapes at guitar shows/record swaps. On a video that was dated late eighties, it seems like a Les Paul(or some sort of copy) was the guitar.

Obviously, that doesn't mean it's the guitar on that record.

I had a great orange David Lindley T-shirt that I lost a while back.

His solo records are very "stylee", but they are totally worth checking out if you are a fan.
