Re: cheap pre
I have a VTB-1 and really like it. I knew they were supposed to be an "exceptional value" pre, but I was completely surprised with the results. Alan, didn't I read something about a rackmount kit for the VTB-1 in the near future? Or am I losing it? -mark No, you are not losing it. A couple more wee...

Re: cheap pre
The Studio Projects VTB is only 129-, I think new on E-Bay there's a bunch. I'd steer away from the ART MP, I used to use one before I knew what a real pre sounded like. Seems like the Studio Projects has gotten much better user feedback. Good luck. K.S. That is correct, the street price is now onl...

Re: C1 on vocals
Again, I do not wish to be confrontational to anyone, so please do not take my remarks to be that way, especially as microphones are not all things to all people. Some do well for some, and not others, but we have done very well in vocal applications with the C1 to date. Again, it is not for everyon...

Re: studio projects vtb-1? shizznat or THE shizznat ;)
I would just like to point out that I think it is very cool that someone can ask a question about a product here and actually score a reply from the manufacturer. Out of curiosity Alan, what is your job title over there? I recently purchased the LSD-2 dual multi-pattern stereo microphone for the st...

Re: Studio Projects VTB-1 Mic Pre: Any good?
quote] Sorry Allan. I when to http://www.studioprojectsusa.com and it had a link to your site claiming that it was selling demos at your closeout page. Guess I jumped the gun there. The main problem I have with the VTB1 is it's inability to rack mount. Maybe I'll just velco it or something.[/quote] ...

Re: C1 on vocals
Yes, the C1 does have that gentle rise to it in the top end, but that is by design. Singing a bit off axis helps if you need it, or a 2 to 3 dB cut at about 8 to 10Khz can also help. The top end sibilance ain't good for vocal apps, but it does sound great on the underside of a snare drum. It does a...

Re: Studio Projects VTB-1 Mic Pre: Any good?
Also, there's a closeout on them at http://www.pmiaudio.com/ for only $117. Hold on there.... We are no closing them out, but we do from time to time sell of demo gear that we have been using at shows that we cant sell as new, but they are no being closed out. Anyway, thanks, the VTB1 is a decent l...

Re: C1 on vocals
Well overall it seems most of you like our C1, so thanks... The C1 is not for everyone, nor is it for every application. I can tell you that the mic may be innexpensive, but it is not cheap. We do use many of the same components some of our German brothers do, our PC boards are quite good as is the ...

Re: studio projects vtb-1? shizznat or THE shizznat ;)
the subject line pretty much sums it up. Now that I've heard all the RNP bashin going on...:) for something EVEN cheaper, I'm wondering if any of you guys have ever tried the studio projects preamp? Its only one channel, but apparently versatile and cheap. So I thought I'd give it a try but I want ...
