does your footpedal only have a midi out and no midi in as well? if the footpedal has an in, you could daisychain the keyboard through the footpedal. otherwise, you might try something like a Midisport 2x2 interface - they're cheap, easy and rock-solid, and will give you two ins and outs to the comp...

Oh, and to make things more complicated, I got one of those free Tracktion offers and checked it out for a little while but it looked like it was more of a looping program than anything so I never got into it. I think it's 1.0, is it suited well to multi-track recording and mixing? yes, it's exceed...

two questions : - are you comfortable with the Acid interface & workflow? - does it do what you need, are are there features you MUST have that it doesn't have? I know a guy who made his first cd by cutting and layering sounds in Microsoft Sound Recorder... not a method I'd like to do, but he was co...

sorry, shorthand for "if I remember correctly".

syrup - true, you might be able to map within the software, but I'm still thinking that transport controls need something different from a CC or program change message, I don't know if they'd be able to translate one to the other.

Drums and VOX sound great. Guitars and bass verge on unlistenable.

yes and no - yes, the old Rolls pedals are built like tanks (I'm using one for switching channels on my Pod, 16 years after I bought it!), no it might not do what you want. IIRC (it's been a while since I've tried to set this up) transport functions like play, rewind, record, stop, etc. use a differ...

check Negativland's website - this page (scroll down) has a phone / audio interface that looks pretty easy to build, and cheap, with readily available parts.

I thought it was a joke at first, like "Is Dave trying to get publicity for his radio show?", but I think his show was cancelled, and this might just be a kind of cry for help. or it could be for the same reason he put together a 12-piece blues band to record a version of "Ice Cream Man"... b...

Bravo! thats pretty rad, hanging the disks to dry dark room style. awesome. yeah, I went down last night and they were still hanging, 26 hours later. I think I'm just going to let them hang until they fall off, or one week passes, whichever comes first. the only problem with the method thus far - t...

notes on another experiment in progress: I didn't like the way my stencil for spraypainting turned out, so before I rocked a solid coat on all the discs, I decided to try something. I picked up some water-soluble Speedball Paper & Cardboard ink, and printed some discs with my silkscreen rig. initial...

ditto - I have a couple of old rack-mount hubs that I picked up at a flea market for $1 each, with an eye to gutting them and reusing the housing.

i is the contact paper really coming off clean? i find that hard to believe and if your just using a stencil that uses part of the disc [not over the edge] and you keep the area clean, then its sort of overkill isn't it? what I'm doing on the current project is using a small stencil that creates a ...
