apparently the fader box adds direct outs.
I suppose it is not too expensive given the features. Still it might take me a bit to get the money together.

yeah I'm eyeballing that Radial as well. However that could easily snowball into way too much money. As far as mic pres, there are a dozen mixers from A&H, Soundcraft, Mackie etc that fit that description. But they are also bigger than I'd like as well. I'm just trying to nail down my rig to be exac...

not trying to brazenly bump my own thread, but seeing as I am coming down to Ashly MX508 and the SSL X desk, can anyone comment that has used either or both? I guess aside from the features I've described I'd put out there that I am generally a fan of warmer sounding gear than clean/pristine gear. I...

I don't think they had direct outs, but what about something like the old Roland M-240R or Roland M-480 rack mixers. wow wasnt aware that such huge amount of inputs were available on keyboard mixers. Those don't fit my needs very well though. No direct outputs and a superfluous number of auxes. So ...

I'd surely DIY a passive summing bus before I'd buy one. I'm thinking of doing that anyway for the outputs from my DAW. My workflow goal for a mixer is to have all my drum machines, synths and modular stuff plugged in. That is why I need a bit of gain on some of the inputs. Most synths I own are in ...

those are nice choices and all, but I really dont have the space for full desk. about the biggest I can manage would be a Mackie 1604 or an A&H Mixwiz. I'm kind of surprised there arent any mixers such as I am picturing. Basically I just want to be able to sum sources to a stereo monitor mix, before...

Mixer like this?
So I am trying to find a mixer or summing box that can do a couple things that I consider straight forward, but I have not been able to find? Basically I just want a high density line mixer. Like 16 or 24 inputs in one or two rack spaces. I do need direct outs. I do want a bit of gain, and pan/balan...

honestly the price of powered speakers has dropped so much I can't see the point of buying non-powered speakers unless they are extremely high power capacity, or some amazing esoteric design. This kind of negates the usefulness of powered mixers. So I don't expect to see a lot of development in the ...

I use a MacBookPro currently for my DAW. It works but there are drawbacks. First off, the monitor sucks. It is great for sitting in front of, not for standing up and running around. I've got an external display but it is awkward. 2nd, it get uncomfortably hot. As far as the expandability. There are ...

cached data is not the same as continuous data streams that DAWs need. I've found that you actually get higher track counts and more stable sessions with disk caching disabled. Contemporary drives are so data dense that even a 5400 rpm drive is moving its 500gb past the drive head much faster than y...

New Mac Pro
Anyone buying one of these for their DAW?
I'm dumping my 2010 15" Mac Book Pro for cheap and moving up to a bigger, faster MAC.
I've been off of PC based DAWs for several years now and am liking it.
Still haven't hit any walls in Logic.
Just wish the damned computer would ARRIVE.

the 201 is the only mic that is so good I was tempted to steal it. It doesn't help that it looks like a Maglite. Of course I would never steal someone's microphone, but doesnt mean it didn't cross my mind. Used to love the 69 on my voice. It somehow smoothes out the midrange peakyness of my voice wi...

I wouldn't say a PM1k has a bad EQ. It's just maddeningly limited to those geometrically arranged dfreqs of 1, 2 and 4k. However being an inductor eq I actually like the sound of it on certain things. EG a certain popular kick mic lines up really nicely with the 4k mid eq. If you like a very tight c...
