tube mic power supply -all the same?

Sorry if this has been discussed here before, I cound't find anything like it.

I was reading a thread in the DIY forum on the Royer Tube Mic mod and I was wondering if a tube mic power supply is specific to each microphone or if they are universal?

thanks

@#*&^%,

What do you mean by bounce it off? Are you just running it through the heads and back to the box or do you actually prin the song to tape?

I've been running the mix back through my soundcraft and back into the box. I'll have to try the tape machine too.

Did you source the parts or find a kit? I haven't seen the kits around for a long time. If you sourced the parts, what were your final costs? Do you have a parst list that you would be willing to share?

Thanks

mixing with or without the client

Hi all How do you prefer to mix? Do you like the client involved through the entire process or do you like to have them come in and tweak a close mix? Which do you think gets the best results in the shortest amount of time? What are some of the benefits of each approach? I'm struggling with this rig...

If you are willing to put up that kind of money. I would suggest working with a studio designer. They already know what they are doing and you will will get a design that works for you and has the experience of a designer behind it. They will be able to provide you with a blueprint and any decent co...

I wounder if you could cap some joists with 1/8 inch plywood, 1/4 inch plywood, and cloth only. I've had this same question as I too record in the basement. It seems like you could also set the traps at different depths inside of the joist ramdomly across the basement. this would vary the air betwee...

I don't think that racking these as stand alone pre's would be worth the time/money but You could use the power supply and build a box to hold a few of the channel strips as is. You could easily tie these channels into a mic/line input and use the ribbons and connecotrs to tie into a few 1/4 inch pa...

MS techniqe and balance in the mixdown

Lately I?ve been re-amping some lifeless, one dimensional tracks and re-recording them with the MS technique. This has really opened up the source material and brings new depth to these tracks in the mixes. I have recently used this concept on a two track drum mix. It sounds great but I?d like to tr...

singing into a piano or snare drum can also be cool. The clothes dryer too. I like to put a fig 8 mic (or too LDC's) facing the vocalist and the dryer. then you can play with the placement of the singer and the mic to balance the sound. for songs with a real vulrnerable feel to them I like to have t...
