Re: Discounted Rates

If you charge people money to provide a service you are running a business. Calculate a rate that matches the level of service you provide and stick to that rate. For everyone. When you start "discounting" and making deals because someone else in your area charges less, you are creating the impress...

Re: Polyphonic Spree "Together We're Heavy"

also, are there any verses on the new record, or just long, long choruses?

are there more than 2 lines of lyrics per song?

I'm hoping that the new one is better than the last... but, reviews I've read have said that it's almost the same as the last record.

I'm skeptical.

Re: Joel Hamilton, Two questions.

R Ranch: Dont know. There are a few of them floating around, and that is how I have seen it. Doug has one already. We will see. They are in production, but dont know how to market it. People buying a big muff arent the same people looking for a 2-3k tube compressor. Call them if you like. Maybe the...

The guy wants to keep the POD track--I want to reamp it through the Deville using my Digi001, but I have never done it, so please bare with me. Do I set the output of the POD track to some output (...

Re: phase reversal in cubase?

Cubase SX has a phase reverse button on the mixer.

you do know, though, that simply flipping the phase, is not the same as "decoding" m/s, right?

Re: The Friendly Candy Company (yeah, right!)

sorry, but no bravo here! It's NOT prohibitively expensive for independent owners to operate radio stations. That's NOT why they sold out to companies like Clear Channel in the first place. They sold out in the first place, because the moment that companies like Clear Channel were ALLOWED to own a r...

Re: Piece of gear to control Background Vocal level from sta

don't change the levels when you practice... this will force your background singer to learn some mic technique. Bad mic technique is one my biggest frustrations when running live sound.

"you can't hear his singing"

"well, it would help if he'd sing INTO the microphone!"

Re: Pro Tools Vs Nuendo?

Nuendo has always been Steinberg's attempt to compete with Pro Tools...but it's never really caught on like they had hoped as far as I know & it's been like 3 or 4 years already since it came out. - actually, it's caught on quite well!! Nothing beats a good Mac G4 or G5 and Pro Tools, especially if...

Re: looking for a good acoustic guitar mic

I just can't fathom how an acoustic guitar could overload ANY mic.

that said, I like small diaphragm condensers on acoustic guitars. you could also try a little compression in the mix to bring the guitars to the front.
