Re: plug in compression vs real deal

but, my point is that I've had the UAD-1 now for a few years.... I've still got a 1.4 GHz cpu, and I've been using the 1176, La2a, and Pultec plugs for two years now... meanwhile, all of the "faster cpu every year" guys are in the 3 Ghz range and still waiting for a native plug that even comes close...

Re: plug in compression vs real deal

Re: rush limbaugh

I don't think that anyone's happy that another citizen is hooked on drugs. but, it's clearly something to note that one of the most self righteous pricks alive has been exposed as a liar and a hypocrite. fukk rush. lucky for him, he's rich. he probably won't go to jail like all of the poor people th...

Re: Gear Elitism and Reactionary Guilt.

physics and technology?? I think that music is fun. and, I for one am not necessarily striving for for that perfect equation, iron mojo sound that in the end is the holy grail and according to you guys, what EVERYONE should be striving for. having frustration or resentment, jealousy, or feelings of ...

Re: mixing down to multitrack tape

so.... I experimented with this a bit. here are the results: http://www.subatomicpieces.com/daw.mp3 http://www.subatomicpieces.com/tape.mp3 both the exact same mixes (not the best) recorded simultaniously. I'm not trying to test or fool anyone. I prefer the tape mix, because of the softer edge to th...

Re: mixing down to multitrack tape

i think it is a great idea, unless of course you DO have enough cash for bernie grundman. yeah... in which case I'd probably just buy a 1/2" 2-track and send him my 1/2" reels. Thanks to everyone. It's OBVIOUS that this is not the best possible solution. But, I'm taking a stab that it may be...

mixing down to multitrack tape

I'm considering doing some mixes to 2 tracks of a 1/2" 8-track, as an alternative to bouncing to disc. I'm planning to get a decent 1/4" 2-track to mix to eventually, but times are hard and that will have to wait. Anyone have any experience with mixing to 2 tracks of a multi-track tape? come to thin...
