Oh. What the hell, really? You can only send outs in pairs?! Seriously!? Well screw that. You just saved me $500. I do intend to use my console for mixing; I just wanted a DAW for basic editing and automation mostly; plug-ins for maybe basic effects. I'll use my own outboard compressors, etc. It's ...

With Logic you'll be restricted to AU plugins - basically you'll be missing out on Pro Tools only stuff and Windows only stuff as there don't seem to be many companies making plugins for mac who don't offer an AU option these days. In terms of stuff that runs from external cards/units the main playe...

I've used a Beyer MC740 quite a few times - I wouldn't really say it sounds like a C12, it's closer to a U87 in the pantheon of "classic" mics IMO. Quite a bit darker than a U87 though. I really like the mic for what it's worth.

I have never used a fet47, by I just recently bought my very first LDC, a Kel Audio HM-7U. It is supposed to be modeled after the U-47. I got to use it once on kick drum, but i wasn't going after your standard kick sound. I had it set up about 6 feet away through a doorway, and I was playing the dr...

I won't quote your last post as I don'[t want to start one of those massive quote trees. I hear where you're coming from and I can respect that position. However, I am/was (the band are "on hiatus" at the moment) the singer in a relatively successful british band (a couple of top 40 singles, a fair ...

That looks like a nice place, I imagine it would be on the pricier side of things though. Will you be engineering or performing? It's hard to recommend somewhere without an idea of budget...

Yeah, me and my friend talk about autotune a lot, and he doesn't record. Anyway, I've been thinking lately that being a recording engineer and autotuning artists just because you have to or are told to, to me is the equivalent of working for any plain old corporation. The whole appeal of being a re...

I've had good results with 414s in a (fairly high) spaced pair for drum overheads. I would have thought the km184s would suit the "hi fi pop" thing more, though.

Live "warps" audio files by default - select each audio file and make sure warp is turned off. There is a setting in the preferences somewhere to set how Live deals with things like this. If you don't know what I'm talking about then you should look it up as it's a pretty inegral/essential part of L...

I've always found it to give great "focus" as a mono OH, aimed down at the snare over the drummer's shoulder. On longer sessions I'll often put up an m160 in this position in addition to stereo overheads and use the most appropriate option for the song at mixing.

I think electrical tape is designed to do this (hence the name). I could be very wrong but that was always my assumption.

Sorry, I don't have the answer to a) or c) but you can install windows on your mac using bootcamp and boot to that if you want to use cooledit.

That's awesome that audiomulch is coming to mac. Amazing program.

Moogerfooger Analog Delay is another pedal but you can buy a rack mounting kit that fits (I think) 3 moog pedals in a 3u or 4u space. Sounds amazing, too.
