Recording Accordian (key clicking)

I'm recording an album for a great band at the moment and today we were attempting some accordian parts. The singer who played them is by no means an accomplished accordian player and so due to performance issues we agreed to put off recording the accordian for a couple of weeks until his brother (w...

I start an album project that I'm very excited about on Friday - in the middle of pre-production at the moment. It's the band's first full length (and their first record with me) but they've had 3 EPs/mini albums out in the past, one of which ran to 40 mins. Their new material is streets ahead of an...

Oh, and while I'm here, one really petty thing that annoys me is how logic sometimes decides that you can't use the crossfade tool to place a fade and have to input the value manually. Of course after you've done that the tool works fine again!

here's a new one for me. today I was tracking bv and I accidentally added 23 trackz instead of 3. this caused some kind of loop in the file that made all the mic inputs live and really loud. I deleted the tracks. still loud. no armed tracks. no input monitored tracks. if I turn off software monitor...

It would be for "van" tours only, and in less than stellar venues - the 400-plus places generally have acceptable stuff in their own racks. If I were to work on a massive production tour I'm sure I could afford much better stuff for the trucks to abuse! I've already got a TC Electronic D2 which is g...

Rackmount reverb for live use

So I'm getting slightly more into live sound. Recording is still my number one lover but as I am getting bits of touring work I would like to get a nice little cheapish rack going for when the venues just don't have anything at all. I have some idea as to what I want in most areas but does anyone ha...

I/O is a plugin that comes with Logic Studio. On the insert menu of the track you want to patch the outboard into, select "Utility" and the "I/O". You can then set which input and output you wish to use for the outboard, as well as trimming options. I've never used it so I don't know if/how well it ...

Favourite ITB vocal comp?

Hi all, What are everyone's favourite vocal compressors ITB? I know these things differ from voice to voice but there are always go-to things for broad applications in my experience. I use the sonalksis comp on a lot of things but it can be difficult to control at times. I'm in Logic so any TDM/RTAS...

Every time I have to ask a guitar player to turn up I allow myself a little smile: "ah, this one is going to be fun and painless". Doesn't happen as often as I'd like, though.

I think (although I'm not certain) that this might be part of the reason why there is a dedicated "master fader" in Logic 8. I don't think there was one in 7, just normal "output 1-2" faders or similar. Logic 8 has both, and I assume the master fader works as something to control all of them at once...

I'm pretty sure the SSL LMC is PowerPC only, so if you're running an Intel Mac that will be the problem.

Out of the stuff I own I probably use these on nearly everything (AU not VST) 1. Sonalksis EQ/comp 2. Logic Space Designer 3. Vember Audio SURGE (soft synth) 4. Yohng W1 Limiter (great free L1 clone) 5. Logic Tape Delay I've just downloaded a load of free Audiowindows stuff too, after reading the re...
