I could definitely work it into a Jetsons themed costume for Halloween this year. As far as my mics go.....unsure.

Why do you have to do that to us? Man I can't go anywhere without wishing my great grandparents hadn't gotten on the boat.

Next thing you know Canadians are going to poke fun.

But seriously Radiohead. Whoah. Yeah.

I can't really speak with authority because I have had to rely on my Waves C1, but I have wanted a rack space compressor and read, and held many discussions on this board. It seems like the consensus is: RNC pretty awesome, pretty useful, pretty affordable DBX 160 really awesome, really useful, real...

I'll second that by saying once you make that choice you're going further down the rabbit hole. You don't know what the Coldplay mix sounded like before they smushed it. Certain things about the eq and the level in the mix reacted to the mega compression, but you can't know cause you're hearing the ...

See, that's the kind of band I want to record more of. I get so bored of hardcore bands that flip their lids when you make it sound 'heavy'. Quiet music can be recorded so much easier with a much greater variety of color. It seems like heavy rock bands, if you try to add much color it just pulls a b...

I have started to believe this kind of set up can get a much more intimate performance. What you lose in separation you gain in having comfortable musicians. I think my favorite thing I ever recorded was a rock band with acoustic guitar, electric guitar, male vox, female vox, typical rhythm section....

Sounds like a good plan.

I'm almost thinking with some good moveable gobos, I might even get away with having amps in the same room on opposite end from the drums, with adequate separation. I've seen it done in smaller spaces.

Did a session a couple weeks ago that had great 'classic' dead sounding drums. Like the other poster said, no bottom on the toms (this can be a little tricky to mix in a flattering way, but with good mics and an in tune drum you should be good) and he had a sock taped to the top of his snare. What w...

There is a studio in my city that is much bigger and much, much more expensive than mine. They have their own snare drum that they tune for the drummer and they have an eq preset that they use on it. This is the snare you get unless you pressure them to use your own, then they will insist on tuning ...

If you don't want to spend the dough, here's what I say. Mix the living crap out of it. Until you don't think you could ever do better. Then experiment with something like this: Get the stereo tracks up in whatever software you've deemed appropriate. Use a good compressor (plugin or real if you have...

And that, I think is exactly how it should have gone. Engineer says "There is a problem with what you have here, that will prevent you from achieving the goal you mentioned. I have a solution on hand that I am willing to offer you." Band says "Duuuuuh. No." Engineer says "Ok." You did the right thin...

Am I clocking my A/D's right?

I've got two Delta 1010s. Each is hooked up to it's own soundcard in my PC. Both are set to "Internal Xtal" under the hardware preferences.

I've never had a problem, but I've read posts on here about mild audio degradation (as opposed to completely obvious jitter) due to improper clocking.

Thanks Dynomike. You've already got me redecorating the future control room in my mind..... but, I'm wondering what some others think.
