Syncing two Digi001s
There's no reason I can't use MTC to sync a Digi001 / PC system with a Digi001 / Mac system, right? And the PT LE version on either wouldn't matter, right? Thinking of adding a 2nd Digi001 running on a PC and running them together to get more tracks (for aux tracks mostly) and plugin power.

14 Inches of Snow
A quick rough mix I did for our reference before sending the tracks to the mix engineer. From our next full-length that should be released in the fall. Recorded here at Illuminati Audio. You can download it at http://mp3download.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=bandprofile.downloadSong&bsid=9514095&...

What's that piano sound in "Willing to Bet"? I can't tell if it's an actual kinda out of tune upright (which is a sound I like - not telling you to tune it!) or a sampled piano sound. For that kind of piano part, check out the Mellotron piano sound in M-Tron if you have it or have use of it. Experim...

This thing looks useful, but $400 seems steep. Seems like you could DIY something that would do something comparable - maybe wouldn't spec out as well as this probably does, but useful enough. Perforated sheet metal and pink fiberglass maybe?

ZZ Top Eliminator - Terry Manning post from prosoundweb
I was doing a Google search to see if I could find any notes about where Spectra Sonics consoles were installed in the 60's and 70's and came across this really interesting post by Terry Manning on the ProSoundWeb forum. Manning engineered/produced/mixed/played at Stax and Ardent in Memphis in the 6...

For what it's worth, I think there probably is a lot of what could be considered indie rock protest music being made, but since the indie rock pantheon is loaded with oblique or impressionistic lyrics and unintelligible or low-in-the-mix vocals, most people never know when they are or aren't listeni...

The Focusrite Platinum Voicemaster channel strip - the cheaper 1RU one - is a good one for the money - around $200 used on eBay. Discrete pre, gate, opto-comp, EQ, de-ess, and a "vocal saturator" ("tube effect" I guess - actually can sound decent used judiciously). When we were doing some vocals las...

I had one of those suckers, but can't find it since moving... Gotta dig through some more boxes. Speaking of RCA's, if I didn't already have two 74B's, I'd bid on this one on eBay: http://cgi.ebay.com/CLASSIC-RCA-74B-VINTAGE-RIBBON-MICROPHONE_W0QQitemZ7401809583QQcategoryZ64449QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem I...

Live Bass Rig
Sorry if this is slightly off topic for a recording message board, but I trust the opinions of the people here more than most. I've been gushing lately about how much I love the Avalon U5 DI. I miss it when I'm playing through my SWR Workingmans 15 combo amp that I use for live gigs. I could just ru...

Actually, I think if you do a search for "U5 and Brick", you'll find a comparison thread from the old TOMB from not too long ago, though there may not be as much "comparison" as people who have one or the other saying that they like them (or, rarely, don't like them). For what it's worth, I checked ...
