I got a Digimax FS for exactly that reason, mostly spurred on by the TapeOP review as well. It's pre's sound fine for some things. The coolest thing about it I have found is that it adds 8 more OUTs as well as INs. I'm doing all mixes OTB now and that was a cool bonus. I think it was about $600 when...

I had a puppy eat my 580s and I was equally cheered up by finding the Sennheiser company, in CT, USA. I got new earcups and a head band lickety-split. No problem. And if you need new drivers, they have them too. You can repair your own, and oh man I realized how dependent I am on those headphones fo...

Thanks for the responses, guys. Jeff, can you tell me more about your shimming of the reels? Where exactly are you placing the shims and how are you zeroing in on exactly the right thickness and location for them? Just eyeballing it? I ask because it seems to me that any friction on the edges in the...

Any reliable 1/4" tape producers?
I have already read the copious amounts of postings and discussions about shedding, slitting, lifter and guide wear, adjustments, roller condition, bad batches, baking, tape age etc. etc. so not really looking for that information at this time. My experience has been that I purchased a case of RMGI ...

Furman LC-6
Hello, I picked up one of these for free basically to mash drums. I notice that the board has easily pulled socketed parts. I know that this unit is basically pretty lo-fi so I'm wondering if anyone has ever made any mods since it's so easy and if anyone has had any luck turning this piece of shit i...

I also loved my CC delay, but it also died for no reason at a gig and had to be sent back to Dunlop. They actually sent back the same pedal, repaired. But now I just expect it to die some time when I want to use it. I only used it for adding blurriness into a spring reverb, not for echo sounds per se.

This is truly infuriating to watch. I'm sorry, but this just reeks of a lazy scam. He's probably been getting away with this casual B.S. - "it's not a big deal" attitude for years. People like this will never moderate their own annoying behavior, so someone else always has to do it for them. Sorry, ...

Headphone Repair/Replacement help?
So my puppy got into the control room today and destroyed my best headphones that I check mixes on while mastering. (Sennheiser HD-580 that I have had for a very long long time) It looks like they still work, but he somehow extracted and ate the entire ear cup/pad deal. Both of them. So my questions...
