Awesome farview, thanks so much! That's exactly what I was thinking and hoping... That the noise floor of the outboard rig makes all these data questions silly. As well, the ITB summing to create stems out seems OK when handled smartly. All in all, a couple of small compromises for a hugely more pro...

ITB vs. OTB Summing: Two questions
I've been mixing either all ITB with a control surface, or all OTB on console and tape - until now. Now, trying to mix DAW outs on a console, so far so good, but two things come to mind Question 1: With creating stems in the DAW, such as a "stereo drums" stem, and sending various tracks to that outp...

I can weigh in on the Pendulum and LR Baggs preamps. I have owned the Pendulum SPS-1 since picking it up from the manufacturer's house in 1995. It has been in trunks of cars, airports and kicked around stages constantly since that time, and is in exactly the same functional condition as it was the d...

Hey guys, thanks for keeping this going. To clarify, the only tone change I am looking for is in the use of the new speaker cabinet. It is a world of better to me. I don't want to alter the tone of the amplifier, that's not my concern here. I simply do not want to destroy it by using a new cabinet. ...

Thanks guys, I was beginning to feel like a dolt. That solution is what I had expected, to replace the output transformer with one appropriate for the load it's now going to see. The amp will then only ever feed this 4ohm cabinet, no combining or swapping around again. I'll never use the "external" ...

Right, right. I was under the impression that at the least, the transformer would need to be changed to deal with the change in speaker demand. Is this right? I would not be running this combo of amp/cabinet without addressing that mismatch first. I'm not looking to toast anything. For now I'll just...

Guitar Amp Question
Fender '65 Deluxe Reverb REISSUE. I am going to move the amp chassis into a head-only cabinet and use it to drive this very nice Daedalus speaker cabinet. I like the fender clean tone at all volumes with an archtop guitar, and am not interested in having breakup at any volume. Problem is, the amp is...

I have not really done any sonic comparisons, but when using a pair of 414's with a console with a 24v phantom supply, what we noticed was that only one of the 414's could be switched (pattern, pad, rolloff) all the mics actually worked though, as far as the expected pickup response was concerned. J...

Judas, My upstate neighbor, with the same damn machine no less... I have two of the Model 80's. One for parts, just like you must have a parts VW bus if you actually want to drive one like mine. For a belt when I needed one, you won't believe it - I went to this little old vacuum repair guy in my vi...
