I sometimes use very short delays (20-80ms) panned around on rock stuff or some delayed plate on a slightly crunchy rhythm part sometimes sounds nice. I also favor repeating spacey echo on melodic bits. Whatever helps and doesn't sound too stupid. I think I am one of the few people who likes a littl...

I sing the Spiderman theme but in Chet Baker style.
Always works to get her to sleep.

One thing I notice about the Rhodes is they often lay a blanket of sound that will muck everything up in a busier mix. The Rhodes DI sound is so rich and full bandwidth and then you get everything up in a mix and it just won't poke through without muddying everything up. So I think a real amp or amp...

There might be a command that does that I'm not sure. You could always select the clip and hit shift G. That sets the L-R up to the clip. I didn't think you could set up markers to be CD tracks in Cubase. I usually export the whole mastered album as one big dithered 16bit wav file and set the Track ...

I have mixing + some additional tracking going on.
I've been enjoying time off after visiting my hometown of SF for a week.
I always have the worst time going back to work after time off. I just want to watch old movies and eat grapes all day.

By the way I was just reading Eq and read this Interviewer: Do you prefer the digital way of recording or the old days of analog? Brian Wilson: Yes, because you can do pitch correction a lot better. WHAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Brian wilson uses auto tune? I don't know if I want to be part ...

It really was just venting. The guy really pissed me off. It sucks when you try to be accommodating and some slimy fuck tries to take advantage. When it's a single track produced over a couple days it's not the end of the world, but a month long album project is something else entirely. Don't hand o...

Well since it was only one song on very short notice I accepted this. That's why there were no MP3 roughs given out for reference before half payment. On an album project I wouldn't be so casual. I also felt the band would cover me if the label pulled something shady. I actually still believe they w...

My most amusing session was with a singer who would sing sitting on an old 50's style bicycle. In every break he would ride in a circle around the mic ringing the little bell and then pull up to the mic to sing the next part. We had to edit out all the bell ringing later. That guy ruled.

Getting paid! Labels bargaining after the record is made

I just had an indie label guy try to bargain the price down after I produced a single track on a handshake deal (no money upfront) with agreed budget. Sent in the invoice. Label guy says he's not paying until he gets the master. He's on the other side of the country. I said "no problem, half payment...

You'd want the Lynx AES16(e) http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/AES16/ or the RME AES-32 for the computer card. The Aurora16 won't work with the M-audio PCI card unless it's an actual AES digital card. I've never used a 1010, so I'm not sure exactly what format it is. The Lynx stuff is great tho...
