My go to Pre for Vocals, would have to be the UA M610, got it used for $650. Turns almost any mic into a useable vocal mic. Brought my RE-20 to life. Also and awesome choice. These sound great with nearly anything. But $650 used is a pretty hard to find price. Usually I see them go for $100 or so m...

You make a good point there. If I use someone else's pad there better be a real fun reason for showing up. Not girls or weed either, I mean working gear I don't have. Or a huge space that sounds excellent! Haha! Exactly! I've got some mid-range gear at my house...and I can record most anything. I d...

If you are trying to appeal to outside engineers, then I think it really helps to have some "name" gear. I like to go into a studio and have mics, pres, and monitors available that I know the sound of. However, I also like using gear I'm not familiar with if I have enough time to experiment a littl...

was the original session recorded with a different sample rate than your HD session? It may be easier to start a new session then import them into a newly created hd session...then disable all plug ins while recording. Man I really haven't had too many latency issues with an HD system. It can usualy...

I'm pretty sure low latency monitoring is only applied when a track is record enabled. It mutes plug-in's on your record enable track...but it's never affected any of my aux's. And I've maxed out the track count several times...so maybe it's due to you buffer and RTAS processing settings. Also I'm a...

Wow thats a great score....i gotta start entering some contests! Looks/sounds like a cool mic, very useful for many applications. As far as a mic pre...i was looking at everything and finally decided on the Universal Audio 710 Twin Finity. It sounds really awesome and competes with other more expens...

I have to agree with most comments. Studio bling is pretty much just a way to bring people into the studio that think ''My record is going to sound pro because they've got a million dollar microphone!'' Most people don't understand that is has to do more with technique then how much your gear costs....

That thing actually has alot of possibilities...and great features. The demo video really showed it off quite well, and it'd be a heck of alot of fun to play with. You could even re-amp vocals though it and it's harmonize them to whatever instrument you want to use. Very neat little device.

Definately! Great ideas. You could even get creative and use some other materials. Metal trash can for super echo perhaps?

Re: VOCALS AND GUITAR AMPS (reamping)

I ran the sound through a "73 Princeton Reverb. Monitor to get the sound you want, then in protools you mute the incoming mic signal during recording to avoid the amp picking up it's own sound. Sounds fantastic. Can you explain in more detail. Not sure what's going on here. Thanks. Ok so if you wan...

Re: VOCALS AND GUITAR AMPS (reamping)

Do i have to get a reamping device to do this? Yes. . Well yes you have to have a device to balance the signal and boost if neccessary....and I've reamped a bunch of stuff without the use of any special device. I usually just send the signal out my 003's...or I've done it with an Tascam 424... I se...

Well it's not exactly super budget concious...but 3 AKG perceptions or ST55/GT55's would be decent LDC to execute the Glyn Johns effectively. plus the have bass roll off's and pads if needed.
